What do you believe Rahim Khan's regrets were? How did it shape how he treated Amir and Hassan? Provide evidence from the book.

Rahim i think regrets not marrying the Hazara woman. He regrets listening to his parents although they gave him death threats. This shaped the way he treats Hassan and Amir because he tries to play a father figure to Amir. He is supportive of him and encourages him to pursue writing and even buys him a journal. Rahim Khan's regrets were stated in the book when he said "Standing in the kitchen with the receiver to my ear, I knew it wasn't just Rahim Khan on the line. It was my past of unatoned sins." The reader can interpret that Amir had done something wrong, and that thing was watching Hassan getting raped.

This doesn't really express Rahim's regrets, but Amir's. In any case, Rahim Khan is the voice of reason in this novel, thus his regrets, if any, are inconsequential and may only be momentary is they contribute to a greater cause, i.e. lying to Amir to get him to Afghanistan, as well as lying about the orphanage and couple who were going to take Sohrab. Yet, since it served a greater purpose, it is unlikely that he lost any sleep over it at all.
