Hi all,

The KLF200 has been made obsoleteand as far as I can tell, the replacement is the KLF150 - from the blurb and instructions it looks like it has the same functionality and will integrate with Lxone in the same way.

Has anyone tried one yet?

You don't actually need one of these KLF units. A Velux motor can be driven with 24vdc. Reversing the polarity changes the direction which can be achieved with 2 relays.

Search this group or online for details.

I've not tried it, but from the blurb the main change is use of windows app to commission it via USB cable, rather than via WiFi captive portal. This sounds retrograde at first look, however the WiFi settings portal was very buggy and I had one unit crash so bad after a few months it had to be RMAed, so in a way anything has to be an improvement.

Regarding direct wiring, the challenge I've always had is their passive house grade windows *only* allow for solar power & wireless control, and the only way I know to convert them to wired control is a warranty-voiding aftermarket PCB replacement.

It's a shame as the velux window opening motors are the best in market, but their wireless control ecosystem lets it down

Hi Joth, Robin,

Thanks for your replies.

Given the cost of the velux and the external shutter I can't bring myself to start butchering the wiring or replacing the pcb and then having fun if it ever goes wrong.

I have in the past used the smoke vent systems and they have much more scope for 3rd party integration than the standard velux windows

I have ordered a KLF150 and will let everyone know how I get on with it.

Thanks

Paul

Agreed on the butchering aversions!

Maybe run the cable to the windows anyway, incase you ever change your mind?
And Fwiw I've always succeeded to specify the velux external shutters as direct wire (using the polarity reverse 24V supply as discussed). It's only the window opening motors (as integrated in their 3G units) that I've always hit brick wall with

Caveat: i specify stuff, the principle contractor always orders it. I've never tried dealing with a velux reseller directly on this.
