Weird behaviour of Favourites in latest app/config

I just rebuilt one of my lighting blocks to solve a minor issue and seem to have created a mess of my favourites  and can't work out what's going on.

In the iOS app there is 

- a favourites tab 

- favourites at the top of each room

- favourites at the top of each category 

In the app if go to a room, click the 3 dots top right/interface settings/set as favourite then that room appears as a tile at the top of the rooms list.

Likewise the categories.

However, I'm having real trouble with the individual objects.  There is some way of setting objects to appear at the top of a room and, *separately* to get it appear in the Favourites tab in the app but that seems to have gone a bit haywire.  

I used to have the lighting object as a tile at the top of each room, but that now means I have every lighting object as a tile under the lighting category. 

If I switch on favourites for my humidity readings they appear at the top of ventilation as a tile, but don't disappear when I turn the 'favourite' setting off. 

I'm coming to the conclusion this whole area is buggy in the latest app.

Ok - so the star ratings are what get stuff to appear at the top of a room as a tile.  

I still think there is some weirdness where legacy settings are being treated differently to newly selected stuff.  I think part of it is also from switching to default settings rather than user specific (and I can't find out how to turn that back on).  I just opened the config on the PC and loaded the config and that's changed loads the appearance of a load of stuff in the app on my iPad (without any edits being made)
