I'm looking for a "panic" button of sorts to tie into Loxone. The "big" red button kind of thing. Wired for power. WiFi preferably. Something to keep by the bed that will trigger Loxone to turn on all the lights for example.

Not interested in anything proprietary to Loxone. Something like Particle IO Internet Button could be adapted although it's a bit pricy. I'm aware of the many ways to build such a thing with Arduino and big buttons, etc, but was hoping for something more turn-key. Sonoff/Tasmota would be ideal but I don't see anything exactly like what I'm looking for.

While I'm just looking for a non-portable solution at the moment I suppose longer-term it would be nice to have a portable/wearable panic button too.

Anyone doing anything like this?

Take a look in the following link: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/loxone-english/B1ZxIBEdpX0/yNyDzaPbBgAJ;context-place=forum/loxone-english. If you are willing to pay 50 euros for a Wifi Button, it is better to buy a Xiaomi smart home kit with the Gateway, a push button, a temperature/humidity sensor and maybe a motion sensor or a door/window contact for almost the same price.

I can confirm that this solution is working and the batteries can last more than a year. The batteries for the temperature sensor died 1,5 after the installation, from the other sensors still working. Even if the connection with the Xiaomi servers are lost, the connection with your network still works. You can also connect other sensors, like the water leakage sensors, and every new one that Xiaomi releases.

I will advice you to buy the new Aqara sensors and Gateway (with the square shape) and not the old Mija (round shape), even if the price is more expensive.

Hi,

We have a z-wave gateway and if you type 'z-wave remote' into Google you'll find numerous options are available.

Alternatively you could build a DIY button very easily with an ESP32 device. Type 'big red button' into Aliexpress to find some interesting parts ;)

FWIW, I was going to put switches next to our bed bit actually couldn't be bothered in the end because a smartphone with the app does everything you want. Do you have an old smartphone device you could just leave somewhere with the app on that would serve your purpose?

Cheers,

Robin

Have you thought about using Quinetic switches? Seems like they would do the job and there is a portable fob version.

Thanks for suggestions. I should have mentioned I'm in USA. Had hoped to avoid a gateway.

An old/cheap smartphone or tablet would work but neither my wife or I have good enough vision without glasses so its not ideal to have to find glasses, get into app, etc. When we get cameras I suppose that will be inevitable approach.

Was just hoping for something quick and easy off-the-shelf as a temporary solution. I guess the Particle button is the best option.

I decided to go with a DIY solution using Sonoff SV and I will be replacing the firmware with Tasmota. It will be trivial to get MQTT events generated (which, of course, can't go directly to Loxone). This is partly driven by the fact that I've already got a few other Sonoff POW devices running Tasmota and I've been impressed with how easy it is to setup and operate.

The Particle button could do the same thing but would require a bit more work. Plus I'm not a fan of anything that needs cloud services to program.
