I installed an iPad mini 2 in our kitchen as a 'central control pad' for Loxone (and other HA) stuff.  At the time there were only 2 iPad designs and the form factors hadn't changed (!) so I dropped a serious amount of money on a lovely machined aluminium mount from Basalte (£300!).

Loxone support is getting flakier - some icons now don't appear properly, no ambient mode.  But more significantly Spotify is nearly unusable now (painfully slow). So I'm thinking of swapping it out for something newer (likely upgrading one we use and installing the existing one on the wall).

What mounts do people recommend?  needs to be a lot more flexible (or a lot lot cheaper) than the basalte but still mount close to wall and look smart.

Better, but still £150 for something that's device specific.

There are a stack of cost effective looking mounts on Amazon but always a risk they turn out to be crap.  I was hoping someone might have found a few good solutions that don't end up costing more than the device is worth.

This from Durable looks decent for £60.  Can secure it.  Adjusts for different sized iPads in future.  Rotates.   But doesn't seem any way to make cabling tidy, and not clear on mounting dimensions and whether the back place would mount around/over the single backbox I've got installed in the wall behind the current mount

This is very simple, but have to attach to the wall in a different place for a new device. space to route cable behind, but nothing hides the connector so need to find a

Low profile connectors.  Found this one on Etsy and £15 is cheap enough, But another £15 to ship it (plus likely duty/tax/fees on top)

I had the same issue in our last house, in the end I came up with a crude but pretty effective solution. I had a spare sample panel of our kitchen cabinets and fixed a cheap clear ipad rubber cover to it (using glue and small screws) and fixed that to the wall over the charging cable which I fed through a hole on the back panel (similar to the one you showed about from Etsy). I could then use this as a wall mount but still remove the ipad then needed. Sorry Dont have a better photo of it!
