im guessing but they probably wont be as good as faradite or other expensive detectors which tend to have multiple sensors and/or high sensitivity

they are not going to act as presence detectors, just motion detectors
they may well be quite noisy when the relay opens/closes inside
the range looks relatively limited (which may not be a problem)

i would suggest buy one of each, have a play and see if it fits your requirements - its only a few pounds if they turn out to be pants...

I'm also for going into direction of Faradite, or why not directly to Loxone Motion sensors for about the same price?

The Tree version would be worthing for Money, considering u save 1 digital input + 1 analog input, per ea. sensors you're going to have.bif you have 4 ok MS has 4 free AI, but of you have 9...

Hi cvdk,
agree with other posters - it depends what you want. The ones you list are both "traditional" having a light level adjustment on the sensor to determine when the activate, and a time on, not clear if they click or not.
For home automation (eg Loxone and others) you really want a pulse whenever there is movement and a light level reading then the Home Automation system can use logic to decide what to do without adjusting sensors. Indoors they also want to be silent. The quality of your automation is very dependant on your sensors.

I went with 7 Faradite motion sensors for my project after having tested a number of others. I read light levels from 4 of them and motion pulses from all. Work very well, are easy to install and look good.

Personally I would avoid tree as it's propratory.

Cheers David

On the faradite ones I can’t get the lux sensor to work. I think I have set it up correctly in the config, and connected it to a 0-10v input on the miniserver. Can anyone confirm their setup/config for me?

Best, Seb

Check out https://www.faradite.com/blogs/news/motion-sensors-with-loxone
If you still have problems will copy my config

Try putting the analogue input on a page and reboot, then turn on Live view to see the reading.

Cheers David

Can't you use the tree version but run the wire like it would be taking in a di and ai with a 24v supply? That way you have some flexibility in the future if the integrated solution doesn't pan out?

Thank you for the link. That and realising the 3rd analogue input is actually the 4th terminal on the miniserver sorted it out. Anyone have any idea why there are 2 Gnd terminals on the miniserver orange block? Why not run everything back to -'ve on the PSU as they are all linked?

I also use the faradite sensors. Have 9 in total with four going to mini server 0-10v.

I chose these for functionality as well as the low profile install. You hardly notice they are there.

Only issue I am having atm is I installed them to far into a couple of rooms so motion is being picked up with people walking through the hallway. Need to play around with masking off areas of the sensor.

Thanks for your answers.

I finally decided to use mainly Faradite for their discrete profile and to have a good quality of sensing where it is needed. I will also use 2/3 cheap detectors where my needs are lower as in the garage or in a toilet.

there is another interesting option for bathrooms using knx

its a flush ceiling sensor that looks like a spot/downlight, which incorporates presence, brightness temperature and humidity using knx

about 200 euros

I bought a few of the AliExpress £8 specials a couple of years ago in 24v form and this thread finally prompted me to install them last week.

For the money, I'm rather please!

As Duncan mentioned, they can make a click/thunk noise when activated but where they're installed, this usually happens well before I'm close enough for it to annoy me. I've put in a total of three with one in each of my pantry, utility and downstairs loo. These are obviously rooms visited rather than stayed in for a prolonged time.

Setting the 'delay' to around half way prevents them from continually cycling and clicking when detecting continued movement. Setting the 'light sensitivity' to daylight allows the miniserver to determine to act upon the input or not.

I also have a Loxone Motion Sensor Air in a bathroom which as you may expect, works flawlessly without any noise and has a lux sensor too, however, its at least 10 times the price!

So if you have digital inputs available and intend to install in lesser used spaces or even cupboards etc, I would recommend giving them a go. I've just bought a few more!
