looks great. would love a white option. im building early next year and was going with touch tree, but given these are £8 cheaper per unit, i would probably switch (pardon the pun)

Bayden

You should also count in other costs to implement non-bus button switch plates:
- the cost of 5 digital inputs (  5 x  (cost of a Loxone Extension)  / 24 )
- the cost of connecting 6 (minimum) wires x number of switch plates, arriving at your distribution panel (versus just 4 wires for the Tree bus)

I like the idea a lot and the price seems (almost) reasonable. Ι hope the quality of the product would be in a high level.

I would like to ask you if you are planning to provide switches with one, two and three buttons? Five seems to be a lot for some simple operations and guests would not know which button to push. Switches of different colours  and socket outlets, i believe, are necessary.

Hi Vampiris,

Thank you for your feedback, we are very excited to hear that you like the TAP-5.

We believe that a 5 button layout gives the most flexibility with regard to future expansion and is therefore the only layout that we offer. Also with a 5 button layout you have one large button in the middle, this means that when a guest looks at the switch plate the natural place to press to turn the light on is in the middle. Please see this blog article that shows some potential layouts of the TAP-5 https://www.faradite.com/blogs/news/getting-the-most-out-of-your-tap-5

If you only require one button you can connect all the TAP-5 outputs together to create one large touch pad.

With regard to future products please sign up to our newsletter on our website and we will inform you of any new product launches.

Please don't hesitate to get in contact if you have any further questions.

Thanks

Faradite,

I hope you change your mind and you provide us with a full range of switches and socket outlets, rj45 socket etc.

Paying 55£ (Excludes VAT) just to control one light at the bathroom, seems too expensive and pointless, if you are using 5 buttons!!! The same if you want to control the movement of a shutter up or down. Also there is no need every switch to have a 1-Wire temperature sensor. Less buttons, no 1-Wire temperature sensor, maybe a better price. A whole house may have tens of switches and i hope you can understand what i am saying.

Finally i would like to say that i am not a businessman and i don't know in which consumers groups you are aiming for.

Personally I find £55 quite reasonable for what is a relatively niche, low volume product, and looks to have a nice quality finish.  I prefer to the plasticky Loxone touch switches.

I wish these had been around when I fitted out my recent build.  I went for modified Schneider/GET switches from ADS Electronics in the end, which are a nice looking switch but I would have preferred nice big touch buttons with properly designed vent hole for the temp sensor.

I disagree that adding more variety of options with less buttons, no 1-wire sensor, etc. would bring the price down.  More likely it would increase the price by further reducing the volume sold of each.  I don't think the number of buttons or the 1-wire sensor particularly add to the price.  And nothing wrong with knowing the temperature in all rooms in a house!  Perhaps some different colours/finishes might be good to suit different tastes though?

Incidentally, the switches I have are £55 for 3 button or £75 for 6 button...

£55.00 for a 5 button switch is a reasonable price. 1-wire sensor cost peanuts so adding it is a nice touch and removing it wont bring the price down. I wish there are more colors to choose from.

I like the design, but the number of required digital inputs is mind boggling!

if you are planning using these or similar multi-button switches and need lots of inputs then the elexol io72 might be a good answer - around £180 for 72 digital inputs using a single network device

Hi Bayden, hope your project is coming on well? I just wanted to let you know that Loxone have now released a module called the Nano DI Tree that enables you to connect the TAP-5 directly to the Tree bus. As the post below suggests wiring using the Tree bus has lots of benefits in terms of reduced wiring and speed of installation and configuration. Please don't hesitate to get in contact if you have any questions. Thanks Chris
