Hi all,
Has anyone managed to setup the Vimar 14840 push button KNX switch as a simple on/off switch with Loxone?

I recently bought one of these switches and can't seem to get it to work properly with loxone.
It's configured as a switch in ETS and I can see it in Loxone config in the EIB learn/monitor status window.

However, I can't get the on/off function to work.
It will at times switch on and off intermittently (after several presses) but not as you would expect.
E.g Upper left key: single press lights on, single press lights off.

Is anybody using this switch and willing to share their config?
If not has anyone got any ideas I can try to resolve this?

Thanks in advance.
Gary

its likely to be the ets configuration that needs adjusting rather than the loxone configuration - unfortunately i can only find the technical manual in italian rather than englisht as a pdf so cant help much

do you have ets with a license to be able to adjust he switch? if not, you might have to get your supplier to reconfigure the unit

Hi Duncan,
Thanks for the reply.
I had the same problem! :-(
There doesn't seem to be an English technical manual available.
I'll try the supplier for the manual.

In terms of ETS, yes I have an ETS lite license (which allows up to 20 devices per project).
Given I'm only working with the one device, that's more than I need for this.
Aliso I know I'm talking to the device fine as I can change the led status of the switch via ETS,
(E.g. Led flash when pressed or permanently on or off).

There are a number of settings I've tried from setting the buttons to function either as a switch (no further parameter changes available) to setting the device as a push button, with a wide range of further parameter changes possible.

What did make me wonder about whether or not he problem was with Loxone was the message in the online documentation that Loxone needs the device to send a 1 followed by a 0 per button press to work properly.

There doesn't seem to be a way in ETS to set this for this switch.
I can set it to send a 1 on the first button press and a 0 on a subsequent press (there is a send value per button press function) but that didn't work.
The light would switch on but not off,

Part of my interest in using KNX even though it's relatively expensive was for its reliability
and the wide range of switches with various capabilities that you can buy.
This is/was my initial test case before embarking on an expensive range of KNX switch upgrades.

Thanks again for the help.
Regards,
Gary

does ets give an option to send a value on press? the mdt glass buttons do this for the slap/panic button and this works -
configure the switch to send a 1 on press if thats available, and in loxone use an extended sensor rather than the normal sensor, and in loxone you can configure the address/value for a pulese

Hi I'm a new Loxone user and I will wire my new house in next months with mixed loxone and ABB KNX...
I read you are in trouble with Vimar manual and maybe I can help you because I'm Italian and if you need some translation just send me the sentence or the manual and explain me what are you trying to achieve...
Bye

Michele

First of all your KNX Vimar PushButton has to be programmed as below:

With the parameters like this :

And for leds :

After that any interface should work properly :

In this way you can manage simple click, long click, double click ...

Hope it helps.

Hi Michele,
That's very generous of you thank you.

The technical manual you can find at the following url:

http://www.vimar.com/it/it/catalog/product/index/code/14840

However, there are 11 pages (p72-82 inc.) of dense text for the 14840 (attached), which would I think be a huge amount to translate.
That said if you feel the urge ... it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for this, I'm now much further forward with your input - Thank you!

I've configured everything in ETS as you have shown.
I can now turn the lights on, but still can't turn them off.

Each button has 3 options:
Button - Send Value - rising, Button - Send Value - falling and Button LED Status
What I can't understand is how to use the falling output - Is the Send Value - Falling used to turn the light off or is it not used at all?

With each of the buttons configured as switching two objects the only setting allowed for the LEDS is status.
Do you have any ideas on how to use the LED Status of the switch?
(The Loxone example was no help at all :-( )

Finally, your loxone config picture was a little difficult to understand.
Could you please send me a copy of the config file?
(Or if you'd prefer not can you move the bottom right hand push button further to the right and resubmit the picture?)

Thanks
Gary

Gear Gary,
You'll find below all properties of the diagram I've published before.
You have to consider that in my example all leds are just an examples of outputs that you can manage...

Hop it helps.

Thanks Thomas.
Finally got this working .... Woohooh!

Who would have thought getting a light switch to work would be so satisfying! :)

Thanks to all who offered their advice and support.

Gary
