Seeing as Loxone doesn't have the air outlet in the US, I have been toying with using some zwave outlets.

They even have built in ones now that look pretty good - https://www.amazon.com/GoControl-WO15Z-1-Z-Wave-Single-Outlet/dp/B00JFK1YRE

But I don't know how i'd go about tying this together, or whether something better already exists.

Thanks!

You'll need a Zwave hub regardless to connect the Zwave devices, so just get one with RS232 or Ethernet control and have the miniserver send commands that way. The ISY is probably the gold standard here for DIY: http://www.universal-devices.com/isy-developers/

Be aware Zwave connectivity gets better with more devices, so if you have a large home and only a few Zwave outlets, you might struggle getting them all connected to the hub.

Have you managed to test zwave with loxone?

wonder if a ZWAVE bridge would work:

Funny you should ask, I just today got a zwave extension working with loxone.

I have a loxone mini server talking via virtual outputs to an ISY994iZw controller which is using zwave to talk to a aeonlabs smart switch 6

I am not using any of the advanced features of the smart switch (energy monitoring, nightlights, etc) Just a simple on-off.

So far so good. I am still testing it for stability, we will see how it fares over the next few weeks.

Daniel messaged me off list asking how I did this, I figured I'd reply here.

There isn't anything magic about this.

I bought the ISY and some aeon labs smart switches.

I setup the ISY on the network and then loaded it with the current alpha firmware (5.0.7).

Then I paired the zwave devices with the ISY and verified control using the ISY admin panel.

From there I created a virtual output in the form of http://user:pa...@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Then I created output connectors with get commands that corresponded to the REST info of the controller.

/rest/nodes/ZW002_1/cmd/DON

/rest/nodes/ZW002_1/cmd/DOF

voila.

I am sure this would be more (much?) complicated if I was trying to use dimmers, use advanced zwave parameters, or query information from zwave devices. But I'm not, I'm just sending on/off commands - and that is (Very) simple.

What remains to be seen is the reliability.

How has the reliability been?

Hey Karl

How did you managed to fix the 10seconds polling to know the status of the zwave device?
