EnOcean repeater and EnOcean Extension. Do they work together?

To extend the range of EnOcean devices, there are a number of EnOcean repeaters. They can be set to Level1 or Level2 to repeat the signal twice (sensor - repeater - repeater - actuator).

I did a brief test a few months ago: EnOcean push button - Level1 repeater - Loxone EnOcean Extension. 

This did work, but only when the push button was really far out of reach of the Extension, with the repeater in the middle.

When moving the push button closer to the Extension, the Extension sometimes picked up the direct signal and sometimes picked up nothing at all.

Did anyone ever try an EnOcean repeater, and did you get it working correctly with the Loxone Extension?
