Hi,

So, we have the Intercom XL from Loxone.

Usually we open the door through the mobile but the problems are many
and my wife keeps giving me /crap/ for installing this thing.

Problem is that at the door's edge the wifi is not great and the mobile
connection isn't either. Usually the mobile is trying to switch from one
to the other so we spend 1-2 minutes in front of the door trying to open
it.

We could use a keyfob but we end up forgetting carrying one.

I can see two solutions. Better wifi close to the door. Maybe finally
install a mesh system (suggestions? - I only know of TPlink Mesh [1]) or
add a fingerprint reader. Anything out there that requires no wiring or
can be added to the Intercom from Loxone?

for better wifi there are loads of solutions, not necessarily mesh

simplest is a freestanding wifi booster that plugs into a power socket
if you can run a rj45 cable to your existing router, add a wireless access point near the door and wire it back to your router

if the problem is mostly around the door, can you add an external wifi access point and power/wire it through the wall eg into a garage?

for mesh, there are plenty to choose from, from the well known suppliers eg BT, google, linksys
