So the Grandstream GDS3710 is working quite fine, at least on the LAN, with streaming video showing up on laptops and mobile devices, two-way intercom quality very good, can open and close the motorized gate from the Loxone interface as well as with a code on the keypad on the intercom.  I added sensors on the INSIDE of the gate so you can see in the Loxone interface if the gate is closed or not.  Very handy if you have a pet and also allows you to know when someone is coming home or leaving.

The problem is we are missing doorbell rings.  I thought that there were supposed to be notifications that popped up on mobile devices (ipad, android phone, iphone) as long as the app was running even in the background and perhaps even if the device is sleeping.  This doesn't seem to be the case and the only way we hear the audio doorbell sound currently is if Loxone is up and in the foreground.

In fact I thought I remembered seeing that notifications even while in the background was one of the features of v10.  Maybe I got that wrong.

What is your experience?  Have I missed something?

Hm. Just saw the Oct 2018 announcement of new Alexa Echo APIs to do intercom and doorbell notifications.  Might be another approach; anyone delved into this yet?

notifications work if your miniserver is registered with loxone and you have the notifications turned on in the settings section of your mobile device - you dont need the app to be open at all, even in the background

Nope! Our notifications get lost/delayed all the time. Nothing to do with an unreliable connection and everything to do with the mechanism the MS uses.

Very annoying.

Upon further testing there appears to be a problem with our Synology RT2600 router not doing the port forwarding properly.  I've opened a ticket with them and we'll see what happens.

Have you worked out exactly what happens?

I find ours are normally very reliable (within a few seconds) but sometimes you get one hours later.  My understanding was that it's going Miniserver - Loxone - app on phone so is very dependent on mobile network.

Ok, the notifications are coming through now.  The problem was a port forwarding issue.  The Synology RT2600 router was not opening the external port that I had forwarded to the miniserver.  The solution was to have the DNS server in the miniserver config point to the router; even though the gateway address was already pointing to the router, apparently no packets were coming back from the miniserver so the router assumed there was no running service and kept the port closed.  Synology customer service was helpful in diagnosing this btw.

So now I get the doorbell notification when someone rings even when the device is asleep.  I can also see the video stream from an external IP.

Unfortunately the audio communication is not working from the exterior, only from the LAN.  May be a bandwidth issue.
