Can anyone suggest some nice classic UK Loxone-compatible switches for dimming lights? Only need dimming, and wife won’t have anything too modern (eg the crazy looking Loxone switch). Thanks.

im assuming you want a switch to trigger a loxone dimmer module rather than a physical dimmer -  i would suggest take a look at the schneider screwless ultimate grid system which are very understated and affordable

their up/down centre off retractive switch would work well for up/down dimming
eg https://www.etcelectrical.co.uk/schneider-gug202ocwpw-2-way-retractive-and-centre-off-switch-module-white-metal.html

many colours are available and they have all the usual accesories such as sockets/switches etc in the same style

Thanks! Yes, dimming lights are on a DMX circuit controlled via Loxone.

The retractive paddle switch is just what I want. Looking for a nice metal wife-friendly backplate version ideally.

the switch face plates for these modules looks like this:

very understated, available in a wide range of colours like the modules.

for most of my rooms, ive used either a 3 gang plate: up/down rocker for lights, up/down rocker for blinds, and a single switch for a favourite mood.

or a 4 gang plate with the 4th gang holding a blank switch with a 1-wire temperature sensor glued on the back.

Take a look at the Focus SB range. You just need to use their retractive switches. Exactly the same issue with the wife - didn’t want modern switches. We got brass toggle switches which work well. To dim you hold down to cycle through the dimming.

I've basically taken Duncan's suggestions but thought I'd find something a bit cheaper than Schneider. I found scolmore click minigrid. I figured that if cheap eventually turns out to be bad they are easily replaced.

The definity face plates look really nice.
Bought from Edmondson electrical.

I would advise finding a local shop that has a few brands and go in and play with them. It's the only part of the system you actually touch and if you leap in and hate the feel then the experience will be compromised.

The definite click are a lot cheaper but unfortunately I found that the retractive switches tended to stick in their frames when clicked.

I have used switch plates from here in the past.

Not sure if they are still trading or if they actually sell the focus SB switches.

We used rotary encoders, two per plate, with traditional knobs - it all made a very tradionaller UK-style dimmer plate. But the rotary encoders needed custom logic to change their pulses into up/down/push/release events. This was implemented for me by a friend for 14 channels using an arduino board which then feeds rs232 strings into loxone. If you want to copy this, I'm sure I could help. I've long wanted this type of thing available in UK as standard.

I used the Schneider push buttons customised by ADS (see up thread).

Personally, for completely classic simple, white plastic  switches I still think MK are by far the best quality.  Their stainless steel flat plate switches/grid covers are much more expensive than other brands but on the switches themselves the uplift isn't significant.

I agree mk seem good quality but on the retractive I found it had a horrible stiff feel. That's all down to personal opinion so make sure you try a few out.
