Hi Everyone.

I'm currently installing a Loxone system in my home and I am struggling to find a distribution panel that is suitable.  I know Loxone recommend the Future Automation one here: http://www.futureautomation.co.uk/Enclosure/Loxone-Lighting-Enclosure  but I'm not sure I need something that big.  Also how are these boards effected by the new 17th Edition Amendment 3 regulation requirements here in the UK?

Any recommendations as you what anyone else is using to house their Loxone Kit would be welcomed.

Many thanks

Stephen

As an update for everyone that read this.  Future Automation have come back to me and informed me all orders for their Loxone enclosures are now Amendment 3 compliant with the addition of a metal front door. Must say their replied promptly and provided all the additional information and specs without having to even ask.

Future Automation do a number of sizes.  My system is 1 miniserver, 3 extensions and a few small units. I've got the largest 5 rail cabinet and laid it out as per Loxone's advice and I've used most of it.  I probably could have managed with 1 row fewer but the extra space makes layout easier and it the spaced from having a smaller cabinet wouldn't have been any benefit to me.

I'm not sure how a full metal door would work - will be interesting to see.  Not least both the Loxone units and Power Supplys appear to rely on pasive cooling via the bits that stick out of the cabinet.

I have a completely separate 17th Amendment Consumer Unit as Loxone is only linked to a small number of lower powered circuits - the two lighting circuits and a 'services' circuit.  The Loxone power supplys will be run from an external UPS so ultimately there will be a fuse in a plug.

The Consumer Unit is a 15 way with 12 ways used  and it's pretty crowded in there.  The Future Automation cabinet would have struggled to accommodate everything.

Thanks Simon, That's really useful advice.

I am restricted on space (under stairs) so your picture really helps show how quickly space gets used up but im limited to a four row unit but will also run the ring mains and kitchen from a separate consumer unit..  Did you by the terminal blocks from Loxone as well?  they seem pretty expensive so I've been hunting around for alternatives,

Many thanks

I've started drafting a 'lessons learned' from my install which I'll post at some point when I'm all done.

The Wiedmuller 8x2 terminal blocks are expensive but excellent - I'd thought I'd have quite a few left but actually I'm running out of space.   I could have done with a small number of the power distribution (interconnected) blocks but made do with a lot of small patch cables in the 8x2 blocks (might not show up on that pic) and some smaller Wago terminal blocks.   No-where else seemed to sell the Weidmuller cheaper than Loxone themselves and I couldn't find anything approaching that density.

Any suggestions for UL listed enclosures for us folks in the USA?

Just stumbled across this... how are you getting on with your lessons document? Sounds like something worth posting in the Wiki:

BTW, regarding terminal blocks I just posted in response to a similar query here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/loxone-english/NeVrIa6nA-0/saLEZJh6CQAJ
