I know a number of you have succesfully installed MusicSever4Lox, and I thought I had until i tried logging in for the first time using the user credentials of the  https://www.mysqueezebox.com/index/Home site.

This is the initial login screen of my internal address http://192.168.1.82/login.php

My question is this what credentials is this screen asking for, the local music account or the mysqueezebox details, or something else.

Confused

thats the credentials of the the local account of the musicserver4lox machine, you put your mysqueezebox details using the LMS web interface

Thanks Duncan I have now managed to log into the LMS when interface using IP addr:9000 but I cannot access the musicserver4lox web interface. I am using the default username and password of admin admin as suggested in the documentation at IP addr/login.php but it refuses to let me in, is this the right url?

the musicserver4lox and LMS share the same IP address, but the musicserver uses port 80 and LMS uses port 9000

musicserver login on mine is IP/login.php or just IP in your browser

do you see the login page?

which version of ubuntu did you use? if you use 17 or 18 you cant log in because PHP isnt installed properly - you need 16 LTS for a straight forward install

I did try 18 initially but that gave me a whole load of problems so I reverted back to 16.04.4 LTS

ok, not sure, but you can use a terminal to lookat the login/password file:

login using user music and whatever password you chose
open a command prompt (if you have no gui then you are already at a command prompt)
type in nano /opt/music_server/sq_cfg/sq_user.cfg and it will show you the admin:admin or whatever you have

no probs

a couple of suggestions though:
its worth considering adding the gui package to ubuntu - it can make it a lot easier to configure things when necessary (i struggled to get wavin running to add a line-in signal to my LMS for my DAB radio
add a rdp package so you can remote desktop into it from a windows pc, then you dont need to physically go to the server to administer it (assuming you are windows, not mac)

once you got it up and running and configured, use an external drive and bootable backup usb stick to take an image of the hard drive - occasionally you will break it and its a whole lot eaier to restore an image back to a good up and running system rather than having to reinstall everything again

I spoke too soon, just noticed that the home screen is saying I  have an internal network failure and the system becomes unresponsive when trying to save a new player, in fact the same symptoms as this post.

https://www.loxforum.com/forum/projektforen/musicserver4lox/allgemeines/115787-help-with-config

Once i finally get it up and running properly I will defintalely install a a gui and without a doubt create a bootable backup usb

mine also says there is a network error, but works perfectly - i dont know what the error comes from, but it doesnt seem to cause any problems in my case.

ive tried ubuntu 16 server, server with gui added, desktop version - all in english and all seem to work perfectly. I did the install with the usb sound card plugged in, so it finds it at install, then blacklisted the internal audio card and rebooted.  After that, did all the config of internal virtual players.

Thanks for the continued help , but thre is still an issue when I try and save the :LMS media and playlist files, upon hitting the update button, the memory usage on the server goes up in steady increments until it hits 100% where by the LMS part of the website ceases to respond, although oddly after a long period of time can be restarted on the control page  of the default site.  Looking at the apache log, i get a whole load of "use of undefined constant" errors, , in php files.

I am still having issues, but I think they may be related to the sound card itself, if you would be so kind Duncan could you tell me which soundcards you have intalled.

Regards

After many many resinstalls , I finally have what I think is a working and stable setup, with this in mind and before I change anything else I want to take your advice and make a system image, what software did you use for this and is there anything special that needs to be done to create a bootable usb stick.

Thanks for your continued help

there are many products from big providers who now provide a free option for basic functions like disk image - and most have the choice to create a bootable usb for you as well.

take a look at :

i used a  bootable usb stick and a usb hard disk for the image to be stored on. - i use paragon but it doesnt really matter i dont think
