Hi, I would like to add some LED strips to top (1m) / bottom (1.7m) of my kitchen cabinets. Is it possible to cut off the 5m reel a 1m and 1.7m length? I ask as in the photo I see wires at the start of the reel, but if Im cutting it into three, then the middle section will have no wires, hence how would I attach them?

Best, Seb

You can solder tails on but it’s very difficult. There are some push on contacts/clips eg eBay that may work

Not *that* difficult - i'm really terrible at soldering and i've just managed to get all of my strips working.  Ends aren't exactly neat but they work and the connections are hidden with heat shrink

main thing is people using shit solder! Get some decent stuff from RS :) life becomes easier - mind you I use a weller soldering iron so probably more money than some spend on the lights :D

As said above too.. adhesive lined heatshrink or a glue gun and normal heatshrink :D

if you look at the strip it usually has cut marks too :)

If you get really stuck you can send them to me if your in the UK and i'll do them for you :)

Thank you, I may take you up on that!

When you say heat shrink, what is that exactly? Do you have a link to the product/photo?
