TIA

I do not know what you mean by template

I eventually managed to get a working setup (less the time to speech function, it keeps talking German lol...) by following  the install docs by his masters voice

.....Referring to his config and  Duncans posts should get you most of the way.

I just kept trying and eventually I got it to work...but tbh I cannot remember how.... not much of a help I know...….

there are 3 things to getting this working:

1) setting up the server and testing it

2) adding commands to loxone using virtual outputs, using the existing loxone template

3) adding virtual inputs if required to give feedback from the music server to loxone - eg current volume, whats playing, etc (not necessary for a working system, but makes it more integrated into the loxone app

for 1), read the help web site and use matching hardware (particularly disable internal audio cards and use the correct external usb sound cards) using chrome to translate from german

2) the only change thats required is to add the name of the music player or mac address to each loxone output command:

3) some examples here to help

Well I think I have most of it working on one zone for now.. Got a state block working for TTS and a scheduler for altering the volume:

doesn't look like favourites work - which is annoying as the wife likes radio2.. need to have a bit more of a play now I've finally sussed the doorbell and tts (configuring on the desk at the moment)

favourites saved in the LMS are run using a virtual output set to be digital:

bed1 favorites playlist play item_id:0\r

bed1 is the LMS name of the player
item 0 is the first item in the playlist

hope that helps

I am wanting to use TTS for the loxone system I am planning, but won't be using their audio client for multizone audio since I am planning on using Denon heos. I was thinking I could use music4lox to do TTS to the Google home minis that I will have around the house. Have you experimented with anything like that yet?

not tried it, but if you are using denon heos attached to the LMS/MS4L as a upnp/dnla player then you can get the TTs to come out of the denons

LMS has a plugin to drive chromecast devices as squeezebox players, and i think google minis appear as chromecast audio devices, so in theory you should be able to connect the google mini as an lms player and then use MS4L to play TTS announcements only to those players.

Is there a English language translation for the UI on MS4L?  Google translate works most of the time, but on some pages it doesn't load automatically.

No and I won't be translated any time soon as it would require a major rewrite to make it localization compatible (now all text are hard coded).
And UI is not thy main grape here IMO but the German phrases in TTS special functions such as "Minuten" in Time2TTS making most of the time those special features useless in non-German world.
Besides that it's a great piece of software. The author of MS4L is sometimes a bit overbearing but he's a smart guy and very committed to Loxone users community.

Btw, here's my solution to minimize number of buttons required to control an MS4L zone:

Most probably it will be possible soon to use a native interface with many external music servers, including LMS and MS4L which is a great news.

Can MusicServer4Lox be used with LoxBerry Plugin or are they mutually exclusive?  It seems like LoxBerry plugin allows you to use the native music control elements in Loxone if I can understanding it correct.

2x No.
MS4Lox and LoxBerry squeezelite plugin are kind of alternatives, MS4Lox being far more capable.
Until now none is able to use the native music controls in Loxone app.
But stay tuned as this is probably going to change in few weeks.

Ahh ok. So that’s where the loxberry plugin for Music Server Interface comes in.  I see its still marked unstable, when that changes will MS4Lox be able to emulate the music server as well?

Yes. Still in development, but will work with MS4L for sure and most probably some other music servers.

I did port it to a GitHub repo and start doing an English branch – but in the end gave up as I ran out of time.

I documented parts of my install here: http://blog.nagpal.info/musicserver4lox/

I mostly do that for my own reference since I have ended up installing it a couple of times.

The parts that aren’t complete are the Debian install since that is new.

I find that just using Chrome with the translate feature is sufficient.

Tomasz,

Do you have any more information on the bit where you mention about the native controls? - where did you find that?

Thanks

David

You'll find link to github source and link to loxforum discussion here:
Please read forum it before trying, on 4th page there is discussion on current design plans.
Most probably the plugin will split into two piece of software and one will be embed into MS4L making... it fully compatible with Loxone ;)
