Hi,

I am trying to integrate a Texecom premier elite alarm panel using the RS232 extension and the Texecom JAA-0001 cable.

I have followed a guide I found on the internet but I can't seem to get any communication what so ever.
The only major difference between the guide and what I am doing is that I seem to have an updated black coloured JAA-0001 cable with the circuit board built into the D pin connector.

Has anyone successfully got the Loxone system communicating properly with the new style cable and what are your settings? I guess I am missing something simple.

Best regards

Hi

Old and new cable will work fine. Works ok on COM1,2 or 3

I have both methods working.

Baud Rate 19200
Number of data bits 8
Stop bits 1

Sould match on panel

from Loxone RS232 RX to PC-COM PIN2
from Loxone RS232 GRND to PC-COM PIN5
from Loxone RS232 TX to PC-COM PIN3

Remember the PC-COM is female connector so numbers go from right to left

Hi Dils,

Thanks for the reply.

Good to know the new cable should work.

I have double checked the wiring, even removing the cover off the JAA-0001 cable to prove continuity so this should be all fine.

I have set the Com port 1 on the alarm system to the creston system, is there any other settings I need to set up on the texecom alarm?

Thanks

From wintex set COM1 to nothing, and upload. It will ask do you want to reinitialise com port select yes.

Then set it back to crestron and reinitialize

Have you considered integrating via their new IP interface? I've been looking into that, as that would seem to be their long term integration interface. I would like to encourage Texecom and Loxone to formally work together with us on this, since it would seem to be the leading professional pairing in the UK for those who require certification for Police and Fire authorities. Have you looked into other alternatives for the UK? -- thanks, Alistair

Hi Dils,

Thanks for the assistance I have it all working now!

I think the only other thing I changed was the modem speed to 19200 on the alarm system, I am not sure if this is relevant but it did seem to start working after this change.

It certainly wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but now I know what I am doing it should be simple in future.

Hi Alistair,

I did not consider the IP interface at all. I found a PDF guide online for using the rs232 and JAA-0001 cable so I thought I would give it a try. It wasn't quite as simple as the guide made out!

I chose a texecom alarm system because there was a template set up in lox config making it an easy choice. and the only function I really want is remote arm and disarm through Loxone so I can incorporate their new keypad with the alarm system.

Best regards

Hi Kevp

If your looking for remote arm and disarm it wont work via RS232, you have to send key presses via RS232 to acheive this.

Best way to acheive this is use digi outputs on Texecom connected via volt free 12v relays to Loxone 24v inputs. This will give you status of the alarm to Loxone (Full Set, Part Set, Fire, Tamper, Power Failure, Alarm) Basically anything you can set output too.

To get arming/disarm working you have to use a Loxone Relay to connect to a Texecom Zone and set Zone Type to Moment Key this should allow Full Set and Night Set, can be instance set or timed set.

Hi Dils,

i managed to get remote arm and disarm over RS232 by using delayed pulse blocks set 1 second apart on the individual key presses so it would mimic someone typing in the code and pressing Yes. seems to work fine this way.

Hi all

At home I used the Digi outputs as inputs into loxone through 12v relays and then used the -ve bell hold off through a loxone relay to control the sounder.

This enabled me to use loxone to control the alarm using the existing texecom panel as an interface between loxone and the sensors and sounder. I gives me access to the 4 texecom wireless pirs for lighting and heating control too
