Hey

Does anyone please have experience with linking ETS 6 to a KNX network via the Loxone KNX extension?

I've got a KNX network setup and working using a standalone USB/KNX interface that I've successfully used to program my KNX devices.

I've then managed to setup Loxone Config so it will communicate (both read & write) with the KNX devices.

But for some reason I can't get ETS 6 to connect with the KNX extension.... which is really annoying as for every change I have to connect the laptop via USB rather then from the comfort of a sofa :)

FYI - when I select 'Configuration Manager' in ETS 6 and I input the IP address 192.168.0.104 of my miniserver and click test it says "OK" so I assume it can find it.

When I enter the individual address 1.1.255 (that the KNX extension is set to) and click 'Address Free?' I get the error "The operation has timed out".

When I try to download settings to a KNX device I get this error "The interface medium type does not match the medium type of the line in your project. Do you want to change your local settings now?".

Cheers,
Alex

Sadly it is not possible to use the KNX Extension as programming interface. Ether take a MS V1 which can be used as a programming interface or use your USB interface. The KNX Extension is also limited to 500 group addresses.

What a piece of junk!

I get that configuration will be easier with a Loxone KNX Extension, but I would never buy one. Even if our MS V1 dies and there is no replacement available I'd rather buy a regular KNX<->USB/Ethernet gateway which would be cheaper, available for use from other devices and not have this pathetic limitation.

I really do not like that Loxone removed KNX from MS V2. Can you tell? ;)

Interestingly Loxone are no longer advertising the KNX extension on their website! I wonder if they've they've discontinued it due to the problems we've discussed. It would be a shame if they stopped supporting KNX integration as many products out there such as air conditioning units only offer KNX or Alexa for smart home integration.

If they stop sorting knx l I’ll be pretty annoyed in some ways that I’ve a lot of knx but glad that they aren’t Loxone devices and I can move away to something else

What about the Gen 1 miniserver?  I programmed one MDT shutter device years ago but lost the ets config file and now am trying to reprogram it as well as a second device. ets6 finds the Loxone miniserver (again, gen 1) with correct ip address, but under the Local interface settings says 'Could not connect to IP interface. (There are no more connections available).  This is on a nice Windows machine; when I programmed it the first time it was on a VM Windows on a Mac laptop (but ets5 I think).  Any suggestions?

(hopefully not thread hijacking; at least related)
