I replaced a very old iPad mini with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 mini in February. I know I was buying a much cheaper device but really not very impressed with it. screen resolution isn't sufficient - I should have got the larger model, but even then I think it's fairly low res.
I'm using Fully Kiosk to simplify it and basically the only apps I have running are
Airmusic (audio capture so I can play BBC Sounds and send it to my various Airplay compatible devices).
Unreliable - sometimes it won't find any playback devices, sometimes it throws an error. Even when it is working it seems to regularly have dropouts.
Spotify it works. But whereas apple devices will 'see' my Spotify connect receiver when it's in standby, on Android I have to switch the amp to Airplay first. Which is odd.
BBC Sounds
Loxone
Seems to shut down fairly often - I come back and find it on the Kiosk homepage rather than Loxone running in the foreground. Ambient mode doesn't cut in reliably - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And at the moment it doesn't seem to be dismissing the intercom screen - if someone rings our intercom the pop up stays on the Galaxy screen until manually dismissed. It *should* just disappear after a while (and it definitely used to.
I'm just surprised how poor the experience it overall really - I know it's not a high spec device, but it's recent, running a recent OS version and doesn't seem especially slow or underpowered. Stuff just doesn't work very well.
