loxone should be banging on googles door trying to get an API. or a buy-out :)

fingers crossed it will at least do http calls

I hope loxone opts for the former and not the latter.  One of the things that attracted me to this system is it wasn't owned/run by a huge conglomerate that already owns most of the rest of the planet.  Smaller companies are much more likely to care about smaller customers and your voice might actually get heard in terms of feedback and changes.  Just my .02.

I'm sure there will be an api, google has the intelligence to see the value of the modding community, and just about everything else of theirs has an API.  Either way this is a game changer, hopefully it doesn't put those of us doing automation and integration out of a job.  Can't sweat that though, adapt and evolve, or perish.  I will always find a way to market my skills and stay a step ahead of the rest.

+1 for a decent API in Google Home.
Also, availability in Europe... Looking at you as well, Amazon. :)

Google will most likely require https and not http for their API.
So, the first step for Loxone would be to add SSL to the Miniserver.

I use a proxy script on a local webserver as a workaround, but that's an extra possible point of failure that I don't want to sell to customers.

been using my google home for a few days now. as far as loxone integration goes, it can  be done (IFTTT - google assistant - maker for http requests) but not cleanly or securely

anyone had any better results?

so with tasker / autovoice integration, you can use google home locally via an android device to control a miniserver (unlike ifttt which parses on their servers)

but its still klunky as every comnmand has to be prefaced with "autovoice" ... ie. "hey google, tell autovoice to turn the lights on in the lounge"

come on loxone, request to be added as a service! shouldnt be that diificult if tasker can get approval

Google Home control with a Raspberry Pi Voice kit... I'm sure it would be easy to access Loxone Virtual inputs/outputs using this kind of solution...

Seems like idle hope to me. Loxone has not made a lot of efforts to integrate with third parties like voice assistants, sonos, logitech harmony, philips hue, ...

so with the addition of "shortcuts" to the Google home app, it looks like Loxone / Google integration may now be as good as its going to get

required: google home, an android device to run tasker, autovoice and the google home app. im using a old nexus 5 that will live in the media cabinet - you could install on personal phone but if its not in the house it wont work

process:

 - in autovoice, under devices, add your android device and link google account

 - link the autovoice assistant in the google home app (devices, google home, settings, more, assistant apps)

 - create the shortcut - in the above example the full voice command is "tell autovoice to toggle the gate" which has been reduced to "open the gate" and "close the gate"

pretty straight forward and can be applied to everything. just wish the response wasnt so verbose ... but its good for now :)

I'm using lutron caseta switches all stashed away in a closet on a job im currently doing. The beauty of that us the caseta pro hub supports simple tcp/ip commands. Integrating it into loxone at that point is simple. And now recently lutron supports alexa, so were good to go, at least in terms of lighting control.

The only caveat is the caseta switches are exactly cheap, but either are lutron dimmer modules.

I am surprised Loxone have yet to issue any compatibility with the leading tech firms in this space. Pushing your own agenda when you could also affiliate, can only damage the partner network as clients opt for the cheaper / quicker installation options. Hacking other technologies to work with Loxone is great if its your own home, but I would not want too much customisation on a client's for fear of being in maintenance hell and potentially damaging their house resell value. With the tech firms forever increasing their offerings, ignoring them, can, and will, only hurt the bottom line.

Lets hope Loxone does not become another betamax through its own stubbornness!

Hey Guys,

We are happy to announce that Google Home integration is certified and is officially launched today!

With the new integration, also come some new features:

  • Querying (e.g. Hey Google, what is the temperature in the bedroom?)

  • Works with Google Assistant (Integration can be used with most modern Android phones and tablets)

  • Assistant agnostic (Voxior users can now use both Alexa and Google Home at the same time to control their home - soon with Siri as well)

No doubt that Google is bringing some fresh wind to to the Voice Assistant industry. Expect that the Google Home eco-system will grow rapidly in the upcoming coming months. We are happy to be one of the first and are inviting you to join us in this exciting times.

We have also extended the Alexa functionality so users can now query the temperature, use Routines to create custom voice commands like “Alexa, good night”and use Alexa mobile app for the control of your smart home.
