Carrying on from this thread I've now got some control of Loxone from my Harmony Elite remote.

My IR Air (and a nano-Air) arrived at the weekend and I've spent most of today getting it running (it's been a slow process).  Review and comments below.

Lesson 1 - and this applies to all Loxone extensions but particularly Air modules.  Whatever Loxone's documentation says you really do need to leave the units to update to the latest software before doing anything with them.  The IR Air  was completely unresponsive when trying to learn IR whilst it was updating.

Using the remote control from an old CD player I taught 10 buttons to the IR Air and then connected these in Loxone.  I've added a light and blind controls for my downstairs rooms and a 'macro' that shuts the blinds, turns off the kitchen and hall lights and sets the living room to a particular scene (It seemed to make more sense to do this in Loxone than in Harmony). Also a few basic commands for the amp so I can switch it off as a 'whole house' command.

Then in Harmony I added a new (entertainment) device and repeatedly selected 'none of the above' until it would let me name and learn my own commands.

The Loxone main unit IR is pretty weak and compared to the Harmony base unit it's very directional.  I've ended up connecting Logitech's individual IR emitters to both the Harmony and the Loxone IR using a couple of splitter cables and 2.5/3.5mm converter jacks.

It's now working but not all sorted yet.  Strangely a couple of my remote buttons only register every other press - any ideas what might be the issue there?  It's not a reception problem, it's not speed of press - just ever other press does nothing.

Many remotes toggle between 2 codes for the same command. In Loxone you need to select both and assign them both to the same command using 'Assign' and 'Assign Toggle' in the IR Monitor

That's a new one on me - do you have any idea why they do that?  I suppose it doesn't make any difference to the Harmony as it can send either and get a response and I've never been learning codes as an input before.

That's fixed it by the way.  Just needed a little bit more coding to Loxone to stop it toggling the 'cinema' scene off if it was already on and I've not got a Harmony 'Cinema' Scene that starts Amp/TV/BluRay and also shuts blinds, switches off lights in other rooms and dims the lights in the TV room.  Much better (IMO) to do that from the Harmony remote/App than through the Loxone app.

Hi Simon,

good to hear you have Loxone control from Harmony. I am trying to do the same but using a Harmony Ultimate One remote. Basically i want to do two things: 1. grab the IR cmds from the Harmony remote so that when the IR Air picks up any cmd from the remote to acts/triggers within Loxone 2. add my own IR commands.

I reviewed your post above about selecting 'none of the above' in the harmony device wizard but i don't seem to get that option. Basically i have to select a device from a pre-defined list otherwise you cannot proceed.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Hi, I already posted this in another thread.
This is a simple piece of software that acts as a Philips Hue. You can configure it to act as multiple lamps and revert commands to HTTP requests.
This way devices like the Harmony or Amazon Echo can send commands to it and you can reroute them to Loxone (or other network enabled devices).

I already have a small testsetup running and it seems to work well with Harmony remotes (I don't have an Echo)

can you post your test setup - or a screen shot showing how you configured the commands in the bwssystem software to save us having to reinvent the wheel?

thanks

I've just had a look at the options.  After a lot of messing about -

- Add device
- Entertainment device
- entered "Loxone HomeControl' as a device.  It searches and of course cant find it.  You then ignore the 'did you mean any of these devices' and select 'my device is correct'

You then get the option to add the device manually and can set it up as
Home Control
then have options for lighting/lock/blinds etc etc or 'none of the above'

Again select "none of the above".  If you choose, say, Lighting, it will give you a load of commands in the interface to learn (eg Dim, Bright etc.)  and while you can skip learning them I think I found they still appeared in the interface.

If you keep selecting 'none of the above' you can configure it all manually and name the commands as you prefer.

Thanks.
