I was just wondering, what is the cheapest 3rd party or generic wifi smart socket that anyone has got working with Loxone. I have a couple of Wemo ones working but was wondering if there are any others that people are using....

I've used TP Link HS100 - no cheapest but on offer in packs ok. Well made but do seem do drop off of WiFi often!
Interested in others used.

Certainly not the cheapest, but I have an ISY with a zwave module in it, which in turn is controlling Aeotec Smart Switch 6 outlets. I then have loxone controlling the ISY via REST api / ethernet.

This has been an incredibly stable solution for me. I have 4 or 5 outlet modules on various daily schedules and referenced from scenes. I have gone months and many hundreds of on/off events without a missed command.

This also works very well with Insteon if you'd rather do that instead of zwave.

We have NEO Coolcam door sensors (z-wave) and they work well. They also make WiFi plugs which are around a tenner. Might be worth a look. Just Google "NEO coolcam uk wifi plug"

Hacker option: Sonoff. It has a lot of options, which are very cheap and work with Loxone, if Tasmota firmware is used. To flash this firmware, you need a bit of tinkering, though.
I don't know if they work with Loxone without Tasmota, just with the stock firmware.

if you only need euro sockets then the shelly ones are cheap and work directly with loxone

Interesting (though I do need UK plugs).   How do you set these up?  Is there a tutorial anywhere?  Does that go for the Neo Coolcam plugs as well?  Any idea of passive power consumption/fire risk?

I presume that we'd just need to use the right code in a virtual output. They have some very cheap wifi relays in their shop as well.

I use these:

You have to open them to flash them with Tasmota, see here:

But then they integrate perfectly with Loxone -

And using SYSLOG on the smart plug to feed back to loxone the current on/off state of the plug

if you prepared to hack/flash then the sonoff s20 for the uk work well

they are around $11-12 on aliexpress, can be opened with a single screw, and have a button similar to the loxone air sockets

Hi Andrew,

could you show me how you feed that state of the plug back into Loxone (i.e. how do you process that in the switch configuration in Loxone?)

Thanks

Peter

Hey Duncan,

How do you make shelly plug working directly with Loxone? Can you share some code sample? Thx!

Thank you

Does this mean that the other Shelly actuators will work directly with Loxone as well?

yes they are all compatible - there is a different index number for those with a  2nd relay (1 rather than 0)

look at https://www.loxforum.com/forum/hardware-zubeh%C3%B6r-sensorik/167097-shelly using chrome for translation, it tells you lots of info

also if you run a loxberry with mqtt plugin, you can use their sensors easily such as the humidity and temperature sensors

I have a Virtual Input listening on the Syslog port:

And then 2 virtual input commands, one for ON and one for OFF:

Hi Andrew,

That makes sense. But do you not encounter race conditions, when you change the switch on e.g. your app, the device switches, and then switches back again because of the delay encountered on the log action?

I did once when I had bad signal when using WiFi outside (Christmas lights). Never had it inside though.

You can re-flash these now without opening them up:

Not particularly hard, but needs some linux knowledge if things don't start up as expected.  I've just flashed one with the latest sonoff-tasmota in about 30 mins with a raspberry pi.

I really like these as they are tiny and the sockets are close to the skirting in my house, so I can't use any of the devices that drop down from the plug.  They are also on special offer on amazon, 9 quid at the moment.

Would the tasmota KNX stuff work with the minihub or is it just a simple gateway and not a KNX IP bridge?

The Shelly plug appears perfect with direct http control and no intermediate logic controller nor flashing required, however, I suspect everyone already knows the UK plug does not exist!

In my search, however, I did find this on their website:

shelly.PNG
4.92EUR

Not quite as slick as their plug but when hidden out of the way, I'm hopeful it will give me the correct functionality with little time investment.

I just bought 4 x Shelly 1's and 4 of these enclosures for approx. £50 which I think works out not far off the Sonoff S26's which I believe still need flashing.

Fingers crossed....
