Hi All,

I have a couple of projects going on, one is a residential home and the other is an office. I'm trying to find types of lock mechanism that can be controlled by Loxone and automatically unlock the main door using NFC Touch
So when ever someone approaches the home or office, touches their Loxone token onto the NFC touch, the door lock opens and they can enter.
So if anyone can help with suggesting types of locks, and then how they will connect to Loxone and config.
Really appreciate any information
Best regards
Nova

i think the lock you need depends very heavily on the door, frame and existing lock mechanism construction - you will need some technical info about this and whether there is any facility for permanent power to the door/lock or will it have to be battery powered?

Hi Duncan

We are changing the doors so we will have the door manufacturer fit the lock we choose. I'm just lost on what there is on the market that Loxone can control..... I know about simple gate locks but for main doors I have no clue

Hi Nova,

You can control virtually any type of lock you wish with Loxone.

As a starting point have a look at the Winkhaus Av3-E, these are an excellent lock with all the security certifications you’d expect.

Thanks

Martyn

loxone can control pretty much anything if the door/lock has an electric option but its easier if the lock mechanism has a switch input rather than retrofit 'smart' locks (eg nuki) which arent easy (but not impossible) to integrate into loxone

the tag/nfc touch bit ultimately just switches on/off power (either low voltage or mains voltage) to a lock mechanism and its pretty much the same whatever lock you have
you might want to consider how you want it to fail - unlocked or locked? if locked, is there an inside key/fob? an alternative way in/out? how about fire regs?

its the lock bit and suitable power/cable/sensors where required thats the complex bit and very much door/frame hardware dependent

some are easy - eg a mortice lock on a domestic woooden door would just need an electric release/retractor for the door strike in the frame, but the door wouldnt truly be unlocked
this option only needs a switched supply from loxone to the release in the door frame

slightly more complicated is a motorised mortice lock/dead bolt, where the lock truly locks/unlocks and these can either be a battery operated motor over the key type, else require a power lead to the door via the hinge side

a multipoint lock in a metal or synthetic door is going to be a completely different beast and would require the suppier to install something suitable and a suitable power supply to the hinge side of the door with flexible protector

I use these:

They also have a remote control module with relay inputs to open the door. And it also provides information if the door is open or closed. Can therefore easily be integrated with loxone.

This works well when making a new door and you can route new cables to the door. It uses a three lead cable.

The only issue I have is that loxone does not have an appropriate UI component to display a door with an electric lock. I now use one push button switch to open and a status display to show if the door is locked or open. But it would be better if I could combine these in one UI element.

In loxone I have a reminder if the door is left open for longer than 10 minutes. That is very handy. And the outside lights turn on in the evening when the door is opened.

Integrating NFC style hardware should be easy to open the door. I have not yet implemented this.

Cheers Evert

We went for a Banham EL4000 on our house.

Its a very nice big name brand lock and was easy enough to connect to Loxone.
We set it for default no power to lock, so only apply power to unlock.

My partner loves that she can leave the house with only her phone to visit the local shop.
She can control the lock, alarm and pay for shopping all with her phone.

We also have a smart button reader which will unlock.
These we all have as a family, but so do workmen, cleaners and so on - and we can set a schedules when they function; so for example the cleaners fob will only work during the daytime / weekdays.
For some fobs, we have it notify us when they've been used to open the door.

Yes I love the solution.... I can't wait to implement it... I will check it out. Do you know what power is uses. Can I control it with CAT cable or does it need twin and earth?

I think it was 12v DC, but is definitely controlled over CAT cable.

Hallo Evert

Even in het NL.

Thanks

Hello,
I will respond in English (although I'm also Flemmish-speaking), as this forum is English ;-)

I have installed the KFV/Siegenia Genius 2.1 Type B and am controlling it through Loxone (NFC keypad).
You definitely need an external power supply and a maybe best a relay to switch the door (higher currents); and a cable to the door :-)

Programming is quite simple, to open you have to activate/switch pin 4.
