Hi, I am looking for ceiling sensors to reliably detect a) presence (in bathrooms), b) movement (in corridors). The sensor has to operate silently.

Any recommendations? I have been looking at Faradite sensors and also remembered smartbusinesstools had one, but cannot find it now (http 403).

ive used these:

they are silent, long range, absolutely tiny and will operate a loxone digital input with a pullup resistor, unfortunately they are 12v only so you need a low power 12v supply

the white bit can be painted to match the ceiling colour so the only visible bit is is the pir lens at 17mm
they are around £50 plus vat each so not cheap

I've had good success with these 24V PIR's

They come with a couple of pull up resistors and do movement sensing as well as lux level as well.

Not cheap, just like Duncans, but I don't think you'll find a cheap presence detector that works or lasts well.

+1 on the epvs.  Be careful hooking them up though; I blew the lux sensor on one when I misread the pinouts.

I've used https://www.faradite.com/products/motion-sensor-360 these a small, silent, and include lux level. Operate at 24v so no extras to connect direct to Loxone.
Have 7 of them installed  for over a year and they work very well.

How do these compare please to the occupancy sensors used by alarm systems please? Anyone with comparable experience to Texecom equipment?

I bought a few cheap 24v sensors from AliExpress a couple of years ago which work well but they no longer seem to be available.

As I already have an RS232 extension and the appropriate cable, I was intending to use a Texecom system for alarm and presence detection. Their sensors seem much cheaper plus I get the alarm features too.

cheers

I will only be using the texecom stuff..

I have signed an NDA with them and have access to the protocol - I am intending to port my existing code for the texecom alarm using the connect protocol to work with the loxone system just as soon as I can sort token based auth in a .net lib.. this is the one I was looking at https://github.com/serialize/LoxNET

last time I spoke to texecom they were happy for things to be released, but once I get something working I will clarify the situation with them and then share if possible.

The only thing to bear in mind is that there will inherently be some latency in alarm systems / sensors if you have features such as double knock turned on either in the panel or the sensor.
I've also just bought a load of quad or dual tech detectors and at the time forgot to think about speed of detection..

If you have the rs232 cable then you can set your com port in wintex as crestron and do most of what you want easily.  Connect lets you get more sorts of info such as the set type, for example I set the panel with a part set on an evening which I can use on my previous system to detect 'going to bed' or leaving the garage (based on area)

For me I cant bring myself to use loxone to do my security and I dont want multiple sensors so I am going to see how I get on with this option. I'm also going to put hidden door contacts on every door and possibly opening windows to influence heating.

Cheers

David

Thank you for the replies. Will give the EPV's a shot.
