Hi, I'm currently second fixing my first Loxone smart home, but I'm really struggling to get the switches to fit nicely, it feels like the screwed backplate flexes too much to allow we the front plate to clip in properly, it looks rubbish and feels wobbly to use.

Is there a knack to installing these??

Thanks

Peter

I have tried one Loxone touch switch and agree they do not fit well on English back boxes.
It feels like they need an adapter.
The same applies to the Gira E22 range.

Both are good switches, but have not been designed for UK back boxes, so you end up in a balancing act - which gets dislodged with people pressing it!

I too am looking for a fix.
Good switches that suit the customer requirements and fit UK boxes properly are the biggest challenge with Loxone.

Cheers David

I'm trying to make a alloy plate to support backplate to  support the frame.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi David, Lillpete,

We have just launched the TAP-5 which has been designed to work with Loxone but more importantly, with regard to your comment above, the TAP-5 is designed for UK back boxes with a 60mm screw spacing. Please get in contact if you require any more information or visit www.faradite.com

Thanks

I emailed James about this problem. The plastic back boxes work ok, although the Loxone switch is slightly smaller so not a completely neat finish.
UK metal back boxes are an absolute nightmare with the Loxone switch. The back plate just wouldn't sit correctly. In the end I sliced the face of a plastic box, superglued that to the back plate and then screwed it in place. I was finally able to click the switch into place.
Anyway, use a EU standard circular back box. Easier to fit, one securing screw in the centre of the box to fit in the wall and you just turn it as you wish so the switch sits plumb.
The back box is slightly smaller than the switch so you get a really neat finish.

Use a diamond core drill bit to cut the hole for the box, if in a brick wall. Much better than faffing around with a bolster or SDS drill, neater as well.

Where do you get your back boxes from?

I have found the best solution for me was to screw screws flush with the face of the wall on the top and bottom spare lugs before you try to install the plates, this offers a bit of extra support, once the switch is clipped in its worth running a thin bead of caulk around the plate.

I got some from a company in the EU but to be honest I can't recall where.
There were less than £1 each so even with the carriage were cheaper than these from RS
