Good day.

Just a few quick questions about notifications in Loxone. Are you guys using these frequently? So far, I have not but I woud like to explore a bit as these could be very helpful. I hope you can share some thoughts and guidance.

The first one is pretty straight forward, I hope. I live in The Netherlands and temps are going down again. Frozen car windows take a few minutes to resolve and can be a unpleasant surprise in the morning (when rushing to catch a train anyway). I use the "poor man's weather station" so I have temps available in Loxone (link: http://www.sinnema.ch/?p=392 ).

How to set-up a notification that informs me when the outside temp has been below e.g. 3 C during the last night? Preferably the notification comes at e.g. 6.30 AM, not at the exact moment the outside temp hits the 3 C. A warning is nice but it does not need to wake me at 2.30AM for this...

The second set of notifications is also concerning outside temps. How would you set-up a notification when the outside temp is below e.g. 10 C and the windows are open for more than 30 minutes? Of course this should work during the day, not at night time (or with house in deep sleep operating mode). I have the door and window monitoring in place and use this to switch off heating when the windows are open. It may be saving costs but I prefer a warning after e.g 30 minutes after opening when outside temps are low. Under Floor Heating is rather slow by nature. Any config suggestions here?

Many thanks in advance,

Martin

One option to solve this is to use a State Block that compares the inputs -

Input AI1: Temperature trigger less than 3° with
Input AI2: Time input is greater than 6:30am

Temperature Input - This can use the Analogue Watchdog Block. The value TL is set to your 3°. Value TU set to something that will never be reached. ie. 99°. Whenever the temperature goes below 3°, 'Switch (ON/OFF)' is set to ON. Each day at dusk, the Switch (ON/OFF) is reset. You can find the 'Pulse for Dusk' in the Periphery tree under 'Times'.

Time Input - From the Periphery tree under 'Times', use the 'Minutes past midnight'. 6:30am = 390minutes.

With the second set of notifications, the use of the State Block is also warranted. You can use up to 4 inputs. ie. 'Daylight' from Times in Periphery, a 'Maintenance Counter' for window opening time etc.

Hi Tico,

Thanks much!!! This indeed seems to answer to my "needs" perfectly.

Do you know if there still a difference between "notifications" and "push notifications"? One seems to work when the app is active and the other in all cases. In my Dutch version of Config, only the notification seems to be there. This could be caused by poor translations or integration of these notification types..

The config example is highly appreciated. Even though I did the basic Loxone config in our new home myself, I still feel like a newbie in many situations. Answers as complete as this one are much welcomed.

Regarding different Notification types -

No, I wasn't aware of two types. My version just has the one type also - "Push Notification". They might be referring to the 'Mailer' and using the term 'notification' in a general sense?

Unfortunately my solution has a couple of compromises -

While it provides a broader ice warning between 6:30am and midnight, the downside is that you could get a notification anytime up to midnight! And a trigger after dusk effectively stops warning coverage until the following dusk.

An alternative is to have AI2 = 390, which more specifically limits the coverage from dusk to 6:30am, with a notification only ever occurring at 6:30am.
