I now have two welded contacts in an ordinary Extension :-(   It doesn't take many LED lights to make them dead after 12 months or so.   I have 6 LED strip tubes in a garage that killed those two relays.

1. Please can anyone supply me a Relay Extension.  The Loxone shop is not available to me anymore.

2. Anyone successfully repaired the internal relays?

3. I'm going to add extra external relays for my bigger circuits and use Loxone to supply 24V to the coils only.   Any tips on what is best.  I have used DIN mounting relays from Farnell.

Wow.  Thanks for quick reply.   Have you replaced those relays before?  Also how can I get it to you?  I am based near Reading.   PM if you prefer.

Hi Colin
1. I can. I've sent you a PM
2. Not me but then I'm not great with a soldering iron..!!!
3. I suspect it's the LED in-rush current that's killing your relays so any decent coupling relay which has high in-rush current rating should be fine. DIN mounted would seem ideal as I assume your connections are all in your cabinet already.
Cheers

I’ve repaired pcb’s before, if you Google someone swapped theirs out for ssr’s but I suspect the we can find the part or something with the same footprint on the rs site. I’m between Leeds and Harrogate so can post it up if you like.

Found the article, wouldn’t recommend it looking at the mess this guy made of it!

Does give you a pn for the relay though

Hi Colin,

You could buy here if you wished.

Loxone’s kit is tested and CE / UKCA marked so would caution against modification from their original spec, relays can be replaced depending on the level of damage.

I only have any repaired / refurbished units In stock for the obsolete extension and Gen 1 miniserver at the moment I’m afraid.

Thanks

Martyn

Just reading about this problem has put me on alert..... So I normally control warm white led strip using the mains relay on miniservers or extentions. I connect a mean well power supply to the relay and then connect the led strip to the power supply. Is this not a good idea, but have used it for years with no problems
Advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for all offers of help.   I'm getting a new relay extension.   Will still use the old extension as it still has working relays and digital input/output that drives other things.

I am using the regular extension so the relays are 5A - lower than the specific relay extension.  I am driving 6 x 22W LED tubes (replacing old tube lights).    So total of 132W or just over half an amp.    They work but the relay backs in after about 12 months.

The 5A relays allow for 10x startup current.   The 16A relays allow 30x startup - so is that OK?   Any rule of thumb for how much start up current to allow?   It is a bit hard to measure.

My feeling at the moment is to use an external relay controlled from the Loxone - which if it stops working I can easily replace.

i would suggest  to always use external relays or SSRs unless its 12/24v signals only

I've got the same problem - a fairly small PSU driving some LED RGB strips welded one relay on in the Miniserver.
Since I have spare outputs on a relay extension, I just marked that output as 'bad' and transferred the load to a spare output on a relay extension.
Lesson learnt -  the Miniserver has low current rated relays so I now only use that for small things.
I could repair my Miniserver, but haven't, only because it means total downtime to take it out!
I considered using coupling relays but it's more cost, more cabinet space, more wiring effort and so on. If you want to, look at DIN rail products from Finder via CPC/RS etc. You buy the relay base and then a plug in relay.
Which frustrates me about Loxone, given the cost of their hardware they could have  had higher rated relays (now we're moving to an all LED world rather than traditional lamps) or socketed relays to make swapout easy.

Would someone be so kind and give me the model number of a Finder coupling relay that I can use please when connecting 24v power supply for LED strip on Loxone minisever relay
Thank you :)

Thank you Savvyspaced :) So this goes after or before the 24v power supply?

All of the 240V stuff I'm switching from Loxone (which includes a few LED loads) goes through a board like this (bought from eBay) - cheap, high powered relays, and tool free relay replacement if it is ever needed
