here btw, was the response I just got from the Chronicle's City Hall
Bureau:

"All department heads who are not elected or who do not oversee
regulatory agencies like the Ethics Commission or Dept. of Elections
were asked to submit resignation letters. About 50 people in all. We
will not publish a list of those individuals who were asked to submit
letters, but will likely publish a list of people who handed in their
letters and others who did not-- which would essentially be the same
thing as running the entire list of names. I imagine we'll run such
lists Saturday or early next week, depending on when we get the final
list of names."
