Update regarding the case of Wendy Byrne's murder on January 17, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, while researching another matter on the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office Docket Master website, I was very surprised to learn the following:

• On September 7, 2012, Drey Lewis, then 15 years old, pled guilty to the charge of "manslaughter" and was sentenced to ten years of hard labor with credit for the time he's served since his arrest in January 2009.

• I also learned that Reggie Douglas, also then 15 years old, is now charged with armed robbery and was remanded to a mental health facility in January 2012. There is no future date set for his prosecution at this time.

• Finally, as determined some time ago, charges against then 14 year-old suspect Ernest Cloud were dropped and all records in Docket Master regarding his arrest have been expunged.
