Help Riverpark Farm make their big move!
Riverpark Farm is a mobile urban farm currently operating on a stalled construction site in Kips Bay, Manhattan. We grow in milk-crate planters, meaning our farm can be picked up and moved at any time. After 15 months of successful harvests, plans have been set to resume construction next week. So that means we need to pack up our farm and move it on out.
We will be moving the farm on Friday October 12, with spillover work being completed on Saturday October 13. We will be harvesting the last of our crops, cutting down our plants, stacking up all of our milk-crate planters, and moving them into winter storage on pallet jacks. Volunteers are asked to come prepared to lift some heavy loads (good shoes, gloves, etc.!) while enjoying some pretty unique urban farm surroundings and lunch from ‘wichcraft.
Time: We will begin work at 7AM Friday, working until 7PM. Those that can’t work during the day Friday might consider putting in a few hours after work to help us make our move faster. We will start back up Saturday at 8AM and work as needed.
Location: The Farm is located at 450 E 29th St at 1st Ave. Security will be expecting your helpful hands, so just ask them where to go. When you arrive, ask for Zach Pickens or Chrissa Yee and we’ll get you set up!
We are looking for up to 16 volunteers for Friday and up to 8 volunteers for Saturday. Folks are more than welcome to work in shifts, which we can arrange ahead of time. Email Zach at zach.p...@riverparknyc.comto coordinate.
