Why don't we have a formal event at Lowell? The school is huge!
Wouldn't that be awesome?

Okay, like I said, it's just an idea...

Cindy,

I think that's a great idea. I don't know about everyone else, but
it's been years since I've been at Lowell. How about a dance in the
courtyard like old times?

Inside/Outside dance, huh? Depending on how much actually show up,
that's a good idea. And it'd be REALLY cheap =) BUT, I don't think
we'd be able to have alcoholic drinks being that its a public high
school and all. You might want to check on that. If anything, I know
there are a few of us Lowellites who do lots of club promotions that
could probably get a deal on a venue somewhere.

Hey y'all. Another idea I've been trying to circulate was to rent out
Medjool in the Mission for the night.
There's a rooftop bar and a couple levels inside (for a more grown up
version of inside/outside dancing), and a great view of the downtown
skyline. Alcohol can be served and we can do up the place.
Thoughts?

Mejool sounds like a fine plan.

Medjool's a good spot, if we can rent for whole night.

We might as well just get Showgirls.

Given that so many people have a different idea of what should happen, where it should be, etc., it'd be best to figure out what people want out of this - network, get back in touch, show off?  Is this going to be a family thing where people bring wifeys and kids?  Then, maybe finding a venue that makes sense would be easier and more organized than people throwing out random ideas.

The only logistical figures that have been set clearly are that people want to be able to drink.

How many people even plan on attending?  It'd be pointless to rent out Medjool if only 100 people plan to go.

Hello.  Just chiming in to say that it only makes sense for spouses to be included.  One more thing....some of us are flying in all the way from, well, Atlanta in my case....NY for some....and some even farther.  I don't think that it should be a formal/prop type of event, but it should at least be nice and worth the trip even if it costs a bit more.  Speaking of flying in.....do we have a date yet?

Dear all,

All good points.  What I think is an interesting idea is a networking session.  This wouldn't be for the entire time, of course, maybe just the first hour or so.  We could have areas for the various industries we're in, like merchandising/retail, banking/finance, engineering/architecture, real estate, medical/healthcare, education, social work/policy, etc. etc.  People can see who is in their field, establish contacts, talk about any industry news, or if people are looking to get into a new field, then they can go to their area of interest to make connections.  Or this could just be a selfish idea, b/c I'd personally love to see who is in the private equity/venture capital/buyout industry.

Other than that, I'm open to having an event that is kid-free so parents can enjoy a night out, and that yes, involves alcohol, some heavy (filling) passed hors d'oeuvres, and music in a venue that allows all this to take place.  I thought that the holiday time would work best for those living out of SF since most people would be back visiting family?

Kind regards,
April

Agreed re spouses. Then we can see who's still single! : )

Also agreed  that holiday time is the best time, either Thanksgiving (which didn't get a lot of support) or  Christmas. Otherwise  turnout will be far lower than it otherwise would be.

Less hot about the networking. I'm curious to see what folks are up to, but it seems a little job-fairish. Open-minded, though, if folks have other thoughts.

I vote no children... I dont really like having designated areas of industry. If there are a lot of people attending and you must segregate them, why not by Reg #'s?

Hi everybody!

Hope everyone is doing well! =D

I think it would be cool if we set it up like reliving our Lowell days...

Meet up via Reg # is a good idea then dispersing to mingle for the rest for the night..but I agree with not having this be a career fair type of event. If you want to network you can network while catching up with people during the reunion.

Maybe radio Lowell from our year can and be our emcees!

I think it would be cool if we had even pictures there like at our old HS dances, like buddy pics  hehe..bring back the good old times.

No kids but significant others are ok for me.

I think something casual (not formal, like prom or too fancy) but yet less of a club/party vibe.

I'm sure whatever is chosen to be done, we will all have a blast!

go class of 1998!! man..we're old...haha

Regards,

Linda

Hi Everyone,

These are all very good ideas. Kathy and I are encourage by
everyone's participation. Kathy will start forming committees in the
next couple of weeks. We will certainly make sure that the committees
consider all your comments.

Keep them all coming!

Reg #s is a great idea. Anyone remember mine? =)

Having this around the holidays is a good idea also - esp. since
that's when its guaranteed I'll be back in the Bay Area.

Uhm, I dunno about you all, but reg was hella awkward most of the
time, and I'm not trying to relive that part of high school. I
definitely vote for Medjool, and just a really chill linger/dance/eat
kinda evening. It'd be fun to have nostalgic things like photos and
even videos from way back when, and it'd be even more fun to have
music that was really big back in 1994-1998, which personally I think
was a phenomenal time in recent music history. I'm not really into
the networking event, but if folks want it, it could be an optional,
very early in the evening kind of thing.

Glad to be part of the discussions!

Hi All...

My two cents...

I would rather not have a reunion at Lowell. Yes, we might save a few
bucks, but come on, it's a reunion, let's spend a few more dollars in
order to have a nicer night. Medjool sounds cool. I am leaning towards
a night of mingling in a relaxed atmosphere with plush seating, good
music, drinks, and light snacks (appetizers).

In addition, since this is a reunion, I would rather not have a
networking event or a division by Reg numbers. If this is supposed to
be a fun reunion, why do we want to make it so regimented? Why can't
people just come with a date (or spouse) and just enjoy the night? If
people truly wish to network with others, this will most likely become
evident during the course of polite conversation. Let's not force
others to participate in such an exercise. The same goes for the
division by Reg numbers.

I honestly believe that some of these ideas may make others less
willing to attend as opposed to more willing.

Thanks for reading my post. Chat with you later.
