Hi guys,

Really interesting project. There's a project status somewhere ?
I would like to get involved, I don't have much knowledge with
telephony tough
but I have experience writing linux device driver and I'm studying
electronic.

Hi Nicolas,

Not really - just check out the recent posts to this group. I haven't
worked on it for a few weeks....

Sure, well some work in getting an asterisk channel driver to work with
RS232 audio would be very useful.

Cheers,

David

Well, I can just say what I've done. My input circuit sounds OK, but
not perfect. The output is terrible. I have uploaded examples to this
group. This weekend I've added the phone circuit. It's using the AVR
analog comparator to sense hook and it compares the Vbat like David
did with the ADC, too. This way the ADC only does the audio and the
circuit just needs two resistive dividers. The AVR has an internal
reference and one divider will match this voltage for approximately
48V. The second has higher or lower voltage if on-hook or off-hook.

In the schematics, most of the things are not calculated, so i didn't
put values on those parts.

I'm also becoming electrical engineer, but the interesting stuff like
DSP has just started... Maybe you can help.

What we need (at least my thing):
- output circuit: David suggested oversampling but I don't now how to
do this
- echo canceler: As you can hear in the example, there is absolutely
no separation between directions.
- RS232 protocol: We need some way of multiplexing audio and control
(hook, ring, ...) data. This is probably not to complex, but I don't
have a idea. For the moment, status is done with leds and audio read
and written in blocks of 256 bytes.

Ok, thank you guys,

I'm in charge of a computer club at school, so Ill setup a pbx and
try to hack the asterisk channel to make it work with rs232.

I know someone on this list have started, so Ill try to get the latest
snipped of code.

I have been really busy so have had no time to work on this project.

I would like however to say, keep up the good work Nicolas, I am
watching your progress with excitement!

If you get stuck with anything - be it PIC/AVR questions, asterisk
channel questions or similar, please post and we will do our best to
help you out.

does someone is in contact with Brian Mohr ?
I sent him an email to get his latest revision of code of the asterisk
channel hack.
I still have no answer.

thank you

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

I have not had any contact with Brian. Have you David?

Sometimes a nicely worded follow up can go a long way. Often spam
filters and the similar can accidentally catch the wrong email.

Sorry, I have been off this project for a while. I will dig up my
last version of code and dive back in with you all. I am happy to
hear this project is still alive.

Brian
