We will present our App-project to the a group of participants at 5PM and then go back at City College at 6PM for a short presentation, Q&A, and reception hosted by CCNY MFA.

In iParade#2: Unchanged When Exhumed, LoVid explores relationships between human memory and physical places, as well as displaced memories and technology. This work is inspired by the historic relocations of Hamilton Grange. Additional inspiration comes from an archive of student films from the 1940s and 1950s. These films were produced as part of the Film Institute at NY City College under the direction of the artist and filmmaker Hans Richter.

The piece takes place in Hamilton Heights, a neighborhood in West Harlem, New York, NY.

iParade#2: Unchanged When Exhumed was made possible with support from DiAP NY City College, Experimental TV Center Finishing Funds program which is supported by the Electronic Media and Film Program at the New York State Council on the Arts, Rhizome Commission, and Franklin Furnace Fund supported by Jerome Foundation; the Lambent Foundation Fund of Tides Foundation, and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

DysTorpia media series

Oct. 5th - Oct 14th

Local Project Art Space

45-10 Davis St. Long Island City, New York 11101

Opening on October 6 7-10pm

We will be presenting our video from our DVD 486 Shorts

486 Shorts stems from a personal interaction with an ordinarily closed off part of a common machine. By getting inside the black box (the casing of an archaic 486 computer), LoVid reached the physical location where signals are passed. Wire was used to make connections on the circuit board of the video card, to produce short videos. Recordings made from these shorts were then edited into 486 short clips, each corresponding to one of the physical shorts. 486 Shorts was recorded during a residency at iEAR in 2006 and released on Analogous in 2009.

12-2PM

URQR

LentSpace

Located in the intersection of Canal Street and Sixth Avenue

We are excited to launch this new project that will unfold throughout the year and culminate with a big event in June-July.

***We are looking for participants for the October 9 date who would have time to stop by for a half hour or so. Please let us know if you are available and interested.****

About the project:

U R QR is a participatory project that will unfold in both public and internet spaces and networks.

LoVid will take photographic portraits of the participants with specific facepainting.

For the portraits, the participant’s faces will be painted with black and white patterns that correspond to pieces of a collective QR Code. Each individual’s face will make one segment of the whole code pattern. The final QR representation will be a digital assemblage of all the portraits.

In addition to the face painting and photography, LoVid will also collect conversations with the participants and documents the process of the project's workshop.

These documents will be in photo, video, drawing, and interview form.

URQR is funded by LMCC’s Manhattan Community Arts Fund and LentSpace program.
