Rachel Mayfield is a singer, writer and mixed media artist from Birmingham, UK.
In the 1990's she formed and fronted Indie Rock band 'delicious monster' being hailed by the NME as a "Goddess of Indie Rock' and as 'exciting, unpredictable and dangerous as a ten legged Tyrannosaurus.
The band received critical acclaim for three top ten singles and one album placing them at the forefront of the cultured Indie Rock scene. Since then she has diversified into solo albums, Film and Art installations while continuing to develop creative collectives.

To be honest, I have NO idea what questions to ask or how much to ask for. What would you be able to give? It's probably none of my business. Iron Man Records needs more Patrons and you're exactly the sort of person. You're even reading this stuff. We all spend money on nonsense. This is not nonsense. I would like to invite you to become an Iron Man Records Patron. In exchange, I'd like to offer you a whole load of free stuff. Would $1 or £1 or €1 be something you'd be able to consider in your current financial circumstances?
Things are tough at this end. 29 Patrons, who already support the label, have overseen the release of Police Bastard - Confined on Vinyl, John Sinclair - Beatnik Youth on double CD and also Beatnik Youth Ambient on Vinyl. There's more to follow. Are you a risk taker? Do you want to place a bet and have a laugh while helping out?
Among the rewards, Patrons will get a copy of each release as soon as it is available and Patrons will get their names printed on the sleeve of all future releases generated with their help and support.
Patrons enable Iron Man Records to continue the work supporting struggling artists and creatives.
Anyway, have a think. While you're here you can get ANY free Download Code of your choice this month, just reply to this
email with YES! and the name of the Download / release you want. It's easy.
The download codes are FREE to anyone on this mailing list who replies before 30th March 2018. Patrons get this stuff FREE as standard and many other things too. Go on, you know you want to join in.....
In fact, while you're here, I'm willing to offer you any cd, vinyl or T-shirt of your choice this month, or a free download code. How's that for madness? Just reply to this email and tell me what
you want, anything you like...any CD, or Vinyl, or T-shirt or download
code. If Iron Man Records is selling it, you can request a copy while stocks last...hurry now.. let's have some fun, get involved. Become a Patron.

John Sinclair - Beatnik Youth double CD arrived last month. Order your copy here Detroit’s Iconic “White Panther” introduces himself as “a beatnik, dope fiend, poet provocateur, race traitor and renegade. Living from hand to mouth and euro to euro, sleeping on the couches and extra beds of my friends. A man without a country and a post office box in New Orleans for a permanent address.” Reciting his beat poetry in a sub-baritone growl, John waxes lyrical about John Lennon, Thelonious Monk, Kerouac, Ginsberg and Burroughs, and issues a libertarian’s charter on “Ain’t Nobody’s Business.” Beautiful two disc CD containing 13 songs produced by Youth, who plays bass in Killing Joke and has worked with artists like The Orb, The Verve, U2, Pink Floyd, and Crowded House. Beatnik Youth ranges from raucous rock ‘n’ roll to psychedelic jazz and abstract soundscapes. Throughout, Sinclair’s voice functions as an anchor, taking on an American social landscape bursting with civil unrest and self-reinvention as Youth’s modernist production swirls around him Immortalized by John Lennon’s 1972 song that bears his name, Sinclair is an iconic figure of 1960s counterculture, famous for, among other things, having co-founded the White Panther Party and for managing Detroit’s legendary leftist proto-punk outfit MC5.
Saby Reyes-Kulkarni interviewed John Sinclair and Youth and wrote a fantastic piece for Bandcamp here

John
Sinclair is best known as the
Sixties “marijuana” activist who was
sentenced to 10 years in prison for
giving two joints to an undercover
policewoman. He was eventually freed
when John Lennon and Yoko Ono
spoke out on his behalf.
Less
understood is his role as the
founder and chairman of the radical
anti-war group, The White Panther
Party, an offshoot of the Black
Panthers. The Black Panther Party was a
militant political organization
formed after the brutal murders of
Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and
Robert Kennedy.

The Nixon Administration and the FBI
launched a secret program called COINTELPRO to disrupt and ultimately
destroy the Black Panthers and the Anti-War movement. As part of this
program, John Sinclair was set up and imprisoned on marijuana charges.
When the government could no longer justify denying him a bond over two
joints, they falsely charged him with a Federal conspiracy to blow up a
CIA station, in order to make him disappear. Watch the film here
