Nakuru |
|
After breakfast, you will receive a briefing before departing on
your African Adventure. You will drive through the Rift Valley to
Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge,
followed by an afternoon game drive in the park. Lake Nakuru is
a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, renowned for its spectacular
flamingo population and one of the world's greatest ornithological
spectacles. Although Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, animals
such as zebras, gazelles, Rothschild giraffe, impala, rhino (sanctuary)
lion and leopards are found at the lake. Overnight at
Sarova Lion Hill Lodge with a picnic lunch, dinner and
breakfast.
Lake Nakuru National Park Lake Nakuru
is a very shallow strongly alkaline lake. It is set in a picturesque
landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland next to Nakuru town. The
landscape includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky
cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides
covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. The lake
catchment is bounded by Menengai crater to the north, the Bahati hills to
the north east, the Lion Hill ranges to the east, Eburu crater to the south
and the Mau escarpment to the west. Three major rivers, the Njoro, Makalia
and Enderit drain into the lake and the outflow from several springs along
the shore.

Day 3 Lake Nakuru / Masai
Mara |
|
Drive through the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve,
arriving in time for lunch at the lodge, followed by an
afternoon game drive in the park. The annual highlight is the
Great Wildebeest Migration; creating one of the world’s supreme
natural spectacles. The wildebeest entrance into the Mara makes a
breathtaking spectacle, as they cross the crocodile infested waters of the
Mara River. Also within the reserve is a Masai village that holds
demonstrations of traditional dances and music as a source of tourist
income for the local communities of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Overnight at Sarova Mara Game Camp with
breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Masai Mara Game Reserve The Masai Mara is one of the best known and most
popular reserves in the whole of Africa. Bordering the Serengeti National
Park, Masai Mara offers a wide variety of wildlife—and your best
opportunity to see lions (some with gorgeous, long black manes) and
cheetah. In one day alone, you can saw lions, hippos, crocodiles, antelope,
giraffes, wildebeests, warthogs, baboons, hyenas, jackals, zebras, Cape
buffalo and dozens of birds, including ostriches, cranes, secretary birds
and storks. Every year, millions of wildebeests and zebras migrate into the
Mara in search of water. The timing of this phenomenon varies, depending on
the rains. Whether you see the migration or not, wildlife watching is good
year-round, and the Mara will leave you with a good impression of Kenya.
The landscape of rolling plains is crossed by rivers and dotted with lone
acacia trees.

Day 4 Masai

impressed by the wide variety of species present in this area. The Masai
Mara has the highest concentration of land mammals compared to all other
parks in Kenya! Overnight at Sarova Mara Game Camp
with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
|
