Kate Bush is releasing a triple-album of live recordings from her 2014 residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. The self-produced record, named Before the Dawn after the concerts, is out November 25 on Concord/Fish People. Like the shows, it’s split into three acts: seven greatest hits, followed by a selection from Hounds of Love, and a final suite based around Aerial, with an unreleased song called “Tawny Moon” performed by Bush’s son....

The Hammersmith shows marked her first full concerts since her only prior tour, in 1979, which produced the 1994 live album/home video Live at Hammersmith Odeon. Although the 2014 performances were filmed, there are no plans to release the video footage.

I'll buy it.

But i'm sure it's terribly cynical of me to note that it's being released just before Christmas....

Not about Kate, of course: about record companies in general.

It looks to me like she is the record company.  I guess she wanted a few bucks to buy presents.

Given that it was shot on video, it's incredibly cynical to put out a sound-only version first. Shame on her.

I'm betting she doesn't like the video of the concert. Hence the lack of such. Too bad.

Yes, my guess would be that this means we'll never see an official video release of the concert. :(

I still think it's a way to get two sales instead of one.

We'll see.

Your lips to Kate's ear. I'll gladly pay.

Let's face it. Kate Bush is the record company in Paint A Vulgar Picture.

We already know that Kate isn't interested in maximizing her profits. If she were, she'd have done stadium concerts.

Besides, what's wrong with a live album. Normally, that's considered a good thing.

Check your watch--it's 2016.

If you have video, you release a video, not an audio edition.

You need to have a talk with Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Nonsense! Bands still routinely release live albums. They might also release concert videos, but that doesn't mean that they don't also release live albums. And I like live albums. I don't have a TV in my bedroom, but I do have an Amazon Echo, and I enjoy listening to music while falling asleep.

I'm sure that record will put you to sleep.
