Hi.

Does anyone know where the change ringing samples come from that are used in Waking the Witch and the Sensual World? I seem to remember reading somewhere that Kate doesn’t know where they came from herself but can’t find it anywhere. Reason I ask is because for the longest time I have thought the samples came from Smithfield, St Bartholomew the Great (bellringing.london). The bells here were featured on a relatively well-known recording of church bells from London and surrounding areas: Church Bells of England: Amazon.co.uk: CDs & Vinyl. The track is available on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jlFD24qzgU.

I had put this to the back of my mind until I rang on these bells myself last week. I think the samples she used are cut up from this original recording. Any opinions on this or other suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Andrew.

P.S. Sorry if this gets posted more than once, I tried sending via email last night but didn't get anything back so trying the web version. Also am sure the bells are used somewhere else on the Sensual World album but can't place the track at the moment.

I agree, the first 5 seconds of that YouTube sounds exactly like the intro in Sensual World to me.
