I had completely forgotten about the video for Deeper Understanding. Perhaps because I didn't really like the overly-sinister ending that I felt was not at all compatible with how I interpreted the song. Which was as a sad and poignant song about isolation in the modern digital world, not as a horror story.

In some ways, in retrospect, I think Deeper Understanding was a very prescient song with so many young people now being addicted to their onlive lives on their phones and yet feeling all the more depressed and isolated due to it. (Though this had already existed pre-Facebook and pre-smartphone with Usenet and email lists replacing for some people their real life interactions. Smartphones and Facebook, etc, certainly ramped this up in terms of scale by a factor of millions.)
