Hidden venues with limited parking means limited exposure for those artists showing at these locations. To keep this competition fair, there needs to be a few centralized sites where the works of all artists can be seen by the masses. Furthermore, the news coverage given to ArtPrize is biased. WoodTV 8, for example, provides little-to-no reporting on indoor pieces located in peripheral venues, and implies that these works are simply pacifiers for entertainment on rainy days. It is proven that where the cameras go, so do the crowds. Therefore, I suggest that television coverage of the show come from a different location each year, drawing attention to the lesser-visited areas.

Location is number one on my formula for ArtPrize success. I too believe it is the biggest factor. Perhaps simply limiting the footprint of ArtPrize in the city would be a fairly simple improvement. There seems to be plenty of sidewalk space available for outdoor work and empty store fronts and lobbies that have yet to be filled with art.
