Caros Membros do CREIAS-Oeste

Suhita

Dear colleagues,

We hope you are all doing fine and look forward to the global meeting of the RCE community in the Netherlands!

We also hope to use energy and inspiration that come from our RCE meetings to contribute to the learning processes and capacity of the RCE community. To do this, we would like to initiate collective preparatory process for the Conference in general and for the individual sessions in particular. The focus for such process was inspired by the previous RCE conferences where many of you stressed the importance of initiating capacity development process for the RCE stakeholders.

We propose that three months that lead to the RCE Global Conference would be dedicated to collective development of the training and/or support materials for the various areas that are identified by you as important for ESD (ESD and Climate, ESD and traditional knowledge) as well as operational topics, e.g. funding, communication, etc. As such materials would need to be developed having in mind the needs of your stakeholders and the regions, we hope that you could discuss processes (and opportunities) for learning dedicated to a particular topic.

The developed materials - that would be based about your experiences and practices, will be presented at the sessions of the Global Conference. The discussions following presentation of your development will inform future steps for facilitating learning processes, including suggestions for development of the materials.

The first step for such action is to form working groups of RCEs who will contribute to the topics of your choice. Each session of the conference programme constitute a topic, e.g. Climate and ESD, Sustainable Consumption and Production, Traditional Knowledge and Biodiversity, Assessment, Funding, etc. (The programme is attached for your reference.) Please let us know if you or any of the stakeholders from your RCE would like to contribute to any of the topics. We would appreciate 2-3 lines about your experience in the specific thematic area or/and your ideas for the programmes that you would like to initiate on this issue/topic.

Please kindly reply to the Global RCE Service Centre (rceservi...@ias.unu.edu) by the 22nd of August. We shall "introduce" the contributors to each other and the work will begin!

Looking forward to your reaction and to our truly collective work!
On behalf of the RCE Service centre,
Zinaida
