A new general post here. Something to notify of injury and discuss
remedies... also conditioning workouts, etc.

You all have probably noticed I have been absent for a little while.
Two Sundays ago I hurt my back doing a gainer into the foam pit at
Flip City. I have been missing parkour but I have to give my back the
rest. It is feeling a lot better and I am able to do most activities
but I don't want to risk furthering the problem with the intense
movements of our training.

I had hurt my back a little over a year ago and it took a very long
time for it to finally go away. This current injury and re-aggravated
the problem so not only does my middle back hurt from my bad landing
in the pit but my left side of the my lower back is bothering me as
well.

I do not take the normal drugs of western medicine and try to stick to
alternative therapies. By far the best has been hanging upsidedown on
tree limbs... thanks to Shaman for the suggestion. Really I just
think rest is going to help it.

However, I don't want to miss all the meet-ups so you may see me out
there. I can condition and offer any assistance if people so desire.
So with all this said, I appreciate the concern from my fellow
traceurs and can't wait to see you guys (and girls) back out there
again soon.

Hmm, "do not take normal drugs of western medicine", I am not quite
sure what your personal guideline is for that but if chewing willow
tree bark is permissible I'd go with that if you are having any issue
with the pain. Aside from that I can't think of anymore advice at the
moment, but if I do I'll be sure to tell you.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks,

I avoid all pharmaceuticals.  Natural is the only way for me.  That is what I mean.  But, really, I am counting on time and my body's ability to right itself.  I help it along with some herbs and tinctures, but mostly I know not flipping and under-barring is the best medicine.

I didnt notice you hurt yourself at the gym. Was it afterwards that
you noticed it? I hope you heal up quick.

i think nj is in the same boat, last night i was jumping those short
columns and kept landing on the edge on the balls of my feet, and must
have put a little too much impact on the smaller bones in my feet, so
it's a day in bed for me, basically.

long story made short, shoes are really important, insoles are really
important, proper landing is really important, and knowing your limits
and things like that are definitely huge. recognize that that your
major muscle groups can dampen the pain you feel from smaller injuries
but only for so long.

No, I knew I hurt myself right when it happened.  It just didn't really affect my movement.  I was hoping it wasn't going to be that bad either.  Backs are important.

I landed a jump just a little wrong and bruised my talus. Some dit
dat jow externally and some of my spicy potion internally and I can
walk, but putting my weight on it this morning was murder.

shoes make a huge difference. I was sporting some hikeing water shoes.
I liked them because they were light but even small drops, like 3
feet, would hurt. I new 25$ shoes and it made a huge difference. Get
some decent shoes and make sure that they have grip all the way across
the bottom esp. in the arch area. Plastic is just asking to slip on
bars or edges of things.

Hey guys,

Here's a good link regarding Parkour conditioning ideas that I wanted
to pass along: http://parkourhelper.blogspot.com/

Also, did everyone decide to change the meetup time on Wednesdays? If
so, just let me know so either Richard or I can make the change to the
website.

Speaking of the website... Richard has been making quite a few
changes. You can now create your own Member profile and log in to the
site to manage your picture and bio. I know many of you have already
uploaded your profile information, but you will likely need to re-add
your info, since we've switched over to a new database (plus, you'll
need to create a username and password for yourselves). If anyone has
questions, let Richard or I know. Thanks to Richard for all his help!

I sprained my ankle Saturday afternoon playing soccer, thus why I
didn't go to the Saturday's session and wont be going to flip city
today. I should be fine before Wednesday's meet up though.
