Wednesday Meet-up

[Biz]

okay... last "new post" for Wed meetup. I made it general so that if
we need to discuss anything about wednesday meetups we can do it on
this thread.

That being said... I plan on being at the playground by U of L at
8:30pm.

I encourage all regulars and newbies to please come out. If you
signed up on the site and have yet to come out for a jam, this would
be a great night. The weather has been really nice and mild for this
time of year. And if you want to start learning some parkour basics U
of L has some great spots to do so. So get out and get started... and
bring a friend.

fyi: the cops stopped us (glenn, math, that one dude, and me) as we
were walking through the park to our cars and checked our IDs.
apparently they check everyone after 11 because there has been some
muggings in that area. so if you're parked over there and it's after
11, walk through the lit parking lot, not the park.

While walking through the park is not advised, didn't the cop say all
the armed muggings all took place in the lit areas? I think there
actually may be a few areas on campus people are allowed to park after
7pm without a permit.

Word, sorry, dude. I am awful with names and remembering them until
I've seen a person several times.

Anyway, yes, the cop did the say that, but my point was that if we are
going to traverse back to our cars we either need to vault the entire
park directly into the parking lot, or go around. Any movement through
the park will cause trouble if it's after 23:00 (got it right this
time!).

Maybe we could find a different place to park. Or maybe start the
meetup an hour earlier, I don't know how everyone feels about that
though. really cool jam last night though.

Really, we pushed back the meet-up time from 7 to 8:30 because of JK, Sticks, and James (what's his name... NoFear).  Anyway. That was a bust because once we changed it, they never showed.  As a group.  I appreciate Sticks for his dedication.  I realize JK has been iunjured... and NoFear... Where are you?

I say... Wed night meet-up moved back to 7 pm.  Let's get a vote.  As the seasons change the night will only get darker earlier... therefore a 7 pm meet-up only makes sense.

slammed my knee into (which still hurts and there is like a lump on my

My injuries seem to have healed up, but I'm definitely trying to take
it slow and build up my shoulder muscle at the gym before I get all
cray cray. Also, I'm moving into a new apartment, preparing for a
quick trip to Atlanta and a 2-month trip to Spain. So, I'm afraid I'm
going to be absent for quite some time now.

I vote 8:30pm - it's already dark by then and we are used to hitting
it in the dark. The park thing shouldn't be an issue, let's just cap
our meet-ups at 10:30. We avoid the cops and everyone gets home at a

times starting to get dangerous with low light.

i know i don't feel comfortable jumping all over the place when i
can't see much. especially since the members that created the schedule
don't really come out.

before 7:30 I would be unlikely to be there from the start due to my
late classes yet I'd still show up, just late more likely than not.

The idea to cap meet-ups at around 10:30 sounds good to me, at least

I say we officially move the Wednesday night meet-up to 7 pm.  As the days get shorter it is only going to get darker and darker so I say the earlier the better.  8:30 was getting too late.

The parking lot is in the north west corner of the park, S 4th Street
seems to be the only way to get to it.

I might be there tonight, at the Saturday session I pulled a shoulder
muscle, not too severe, but I may not want to risk actually making it
worse before it fully heals.

there's a parking lot over on 4th just after you cross under the RR and right before you get to the housing complex. Just make sure you're outta ther before 11 or they'll tow your dubs away. I hate to say this AGAIN, but I injured myself tonight at U of L.  I jammed my right big toe, hard, into a bench in front of the law building.  Math, Glenn, and Jeremy were all there and we were having a good meet-up.  My toe is currently swollen, and numb from the ice I have on it.  I might be out a few weeks.  I hope I am back soon.  Be safe everyone, don't be like me... mr. injury.

I have a meeting, but the good news is that my toe is almost completely 100%.  I should be out Saturday.  I know it is cold, and wet, but I still hope you guys get out there and train tonight.  There has to be some spot on the campus that are covered and dry.  Work on the small stuff.  Make games,  let me know how it goes tonight.

I actually had a great 45 minute workout on Saturday at the waterfront park.  It was cold, wet and made me move through the environment differently and focus on other things.  Plus I tried to use the slipperiness to my advantage.
