Seven on ebay

There is a Lotus Seven on ebay, claiming to be a 1958 Lotus Seven Series One (serial number 467).  Is this a real car?

Hello John,

 

This car has been discussed on the sevens group forum for the last year. It showed up at Fantasy Junction in Emeryville California. I looked at the car and sent photos to John Watson. Fantasy Junction didn't make any claims to authenticity and I believe the owner was in the dark. It's known history starts in Connecticut, which is ominous in it self. I didn't think it was real and John had problems with it. The chassis plate is a later style and I didn't see a chassis tag with number on it. It was re-bodied improperly but does come with loads of patina!
