There was an 1100cc Series I Eleven in the Bonhams auction catalog at
Monterey. I read the catalog description and looked it over. While
there is no doubt that this car has been racing a long time, it is the
definition of ridden hard and put away wet. There are several issues
concerning originality/provenance as well. Maybe some changes were
made during its race history but in some cases the attachment points
were no longer evident. I would be quite surprised if it sold.

The estimate was $130,000 - $150,000. I hope they got it.

Does anyone know how to view this yellow Eleven? I tried to search through Bonhams/Monterey with no luck. What questions are there specifically concerning it's provenance/originality?

Thanks, Mike

PS It is good to be back! Today may be a very good day for my car, thanks to Roger and Jay.

Chris,

Eleven at Bonhams did not have a known chassis number. That was one of
the "stories".

The catalog description was filled with the glorious history of all
Lotus Elevens as filler although there was a good-looking picture of
the car racing. The time period of the picture was not clear to me.
From a decal on the body, the car had raced at Monterey at some point
in the not so distant past. Then again, by my experience, getting
accepted at Monterey is the hard part. Despite all their warnings, no
one at tech was looking for originality, only safety equipment.
