At Dragonflight, I ran three demos of the LotR game using the beginner scenario; each one was full, and I could have done more if I had had the time. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
The decks were 50-card mono-sphere, built out of two starter boxes plus a splash of cards from the first two expansions. It was cool to see how quickly people picked up on some of the powerful interactions across decks and the extra boost they could get by playing cooperatively. There wasn't quite enough Rohan or Eagle stuff for the Tactics or Spirit players to really take advantage of, but I think with the last couple of expansions it'd be no problem to build a demo mono-sphere deck where a newbie could get excited about pulling off some combos with those traits.
I did realize by the end that I was a little uncertain on the timing of the ability of the hero that can make a solo attack against a monster in the staging area, I need to re-read a little bit from that.
