The SRF1 and SRF3 are compact, high performance, multi-channel, passive splitter/combiner arrays, designed for expansion of RF routing systems and other applications requiring high-density, rackmount splitter packages. The wide pass bandwidth includes the extended L-band range. The SRF series may be used in any L-Band signal distribution system where multiple channels of passive 1x2, 1x4, 1x8 or 1x16 splitter/combiners are needed.
The module functions as a splitter or combiner depending on the RF connections. The SRF unit can be configured as a splitter by injecting an RF signal to the common port. The outputs will be a reduced amplitude replica of the input signal. Injecting RF signals into the combiner input ports (splitter outputs) results in the summation at the common port with reduced amplitude. The monitor port allows monitoring of the common port without interruption of the signal path.
SatService has a long lasting experience in developing and manufacturing L-band IF equipment, modules and sub-systems for satellite ground stations. Everything started in 2005 with the development of an L-band distributor (sat-nms LRXD18), which provides as additional features LNB supply and alarm monitoring. At that time the configuration per 19inch 1RU chassis was 1 input and 8 outputs. Relatively quick the customer demand changed to two of these 1:8 distributors in one 1RU 19inch chassis which became the sat-nms LRXD28. Later also a solution for the output of a typical Ku-band LNB system was introduced to the market, sat-nms LRXD44, which integrates 4 distributor with 4 L-band outputs each in 1RU, including LNB supply. All 19inch drawer included the necessary monitoring and alarm functionality to provide LNB current monitoring capabilities and alarm outputs.
Based on these experience SatService was also in the position to realize more specialized distributor configuration, like for example sat-nms LRXD14, which has a DIN-rail module form factor and provides 1 LNB input port including a diplexer for LNB supply voltage and 10MHz reference frequency supply. The target applications here are in satellite news gathering (SNG) vans, where mechanical size is essential and in front of VSAT modems which require also the 10MHz distribution.
A more sophisticated L-band equipment is the sat-nms SMU signal management unit. The goal was here to integrate and combine different applications in one 2RU 19inch rack mount chassis. All modules can be integrated in the different slots of the chassis so that you can easily configure it to your specific requirements and quantities
The first slide in module was the universal multipurpose switch which includes 4 L-band switches which provide at each of its two input ports level monitoring and DC insertion capability for LNBs. This allows the configuration of powerful redundancy switching capabilities of RX antenna farms , fully monitored and controlled in an chassis. . As you can slide in up to 5 of these cards you are in a position to perform the redundancy switching of up to 2x5 Ku-band RX receive antennas with one chassis. This is a very powerful approach for example for IPTV or other antenna farm applications where customer want to generate a higher availability by two redundant antennas at different buildings for example.
The L-band line amplifier module includes 4 gain adjustable L-band amplifier which includes also the capability to insert DC for LNB supply and level monitoring of each L-band signal. Ideal for example in front of switch matrices.
In contrast to that the sat-nms CS24 combiner splitter modules provides qty 2 1:4 splitter. As they are passive devices they can be used in both directions which means you can also use them not only in the typical RX receive but also in TX transmit applications.
The application behind the sat-nms TMPS transfer multipurpose switch modules is a little bit more sophisticated. With these modules you can easily configure a 1:1 or 2:1 LNB redundancy switching system with full monitoring and control capability and the possibility to integrate this also in a higher level M&C monitoring and control system. If you combine two of these slide in modules in one chassis you even can enable the full redundancy switching of 2:1 WDL dual output LNBs from SMW Swedish Microwave, as these provide two L-band output ports, one for Ku low band and one for the Ku high band. Therefore you need twice transfer switches at the L-band output section of the redundancy switching.
In the meantime the SatService team has developed a huge number of different modules. Based on this experience and pool of printed circuit boards the team is in the position to react on user requirements very quickly and adapt developments to specific user requirements.
