Mediterranean Parting
Lord of the Acropolis:
Plagues sweeping your land
Your coffers are empty
Your people are hurting
Your palace besieged
Your cities are burning
Lord of the Acropolis:
From far and from near
pilgrims at your shrines
with offerings
for the suffering
Their vocation clear
Pharaoh
of Acropolis:
"Let my people go!"
The Red Sea had parted
setting the slaves free
Mediterranean parting
No miracles, no magic -
mere human resolve
The waves of disgrace
sweep despots away
Save yourself from drowning:
“Let my people go!”
