As the news
of Pharaoh's death
reached Memphis
the masses took to the streets,
occupied the squares,
captured the TV station,
and marched on the Presidential palace
Millions of enslaved peasants
Millions of oppressed workers
The subjugated and the exploited
The enslaved and the poor
emerged from their slums
to witness the sunrise for the first time
Beyond religion
Beyond language
Beyond ethnicity
Beyond skin colour
