This mod for The Godfather (2006) PC fixes the game and makes it playable again on modern software and hardware. Includes launch fix which makes the game playable on Windows 10 PC, no more crashing upon launch. Also includes a widescreen fix to make the game the correct aspect ratio and not stretched out. And includes updated controller setup.
Thank you for the fix pack.
I am having some trouble with the controller fix.
I am using an xbox one elite 2 controller wireless via the wireless adapter.
I've installed the pack as recommended in the readme.
The controller does appear (with the correct name) in the controller section but it is greyed out and so is calibrate.
In the youtube video you click "use gamepad" and then ok and it takes you back to the main menu, when you return to control settings "use gamepad" is now ticked.
However when I do this and return to the control settings "use gamepad" is again unticked. I've tried it several times installing in different locations.
Is there anything I should be doing that I am not please?
I have tried renaming the controller from Controller (Xbox One for Windows) to Xbox_One_For_Windows_(Controller) in regedit but no difference (except the name changes)

You can skip the EA Paramount intro every time you launch the game by going to "scripts" folder and open SilentPatchGF.ini with notepad and change the following: "SkipIntroMovies=0" to "SkipIntroMovies=1"
I Mafia Videos spent a lot of time trying to make controllers work on The Godfather (2006) on Windows 10 since all previous guides are outdated and no longer working. I could not find ANY guides and even PC Gaming Wiki site had outdated info, so I figured it out myself for Windows 10! Process is now fairly easily as stated in Readme.txt file.
The 360 controller is a solid evolution of past ideas, the Wii controller is something that feels new but is still relatively untested, and the Sixaxis is... well, it's an uneasy combination of both. There have been a few games that use Sixaxis technology well: flOw is fun, and flying games like Burning Angels show the promise that future titles may bring. Still, it's really up to developers to find novel uses for the motion-sensing technology built into the configuration of a standard DualShock, which is a setup that has its own ups and downs for game development.
EA had to deal with the controller when they ported The Godfather to the PS3, and they had some interesting ideas for controls. They shared some insights with N'Gai Croal, one of my favorite gaming journalists with one of my least favorite names to try to say. The interview shows that they put a good amount of thought into how best to use the Sixaxis:
The
final results are very cool. For instance, once you've grabbed an enemy
mobster, you can slam him against a wall by pushing the controller
forward, or swing him around by jerking the controller left and right.
If you sneak up behind an opponent and grab him, you can even perform a
brutal neck-snap by giving the controller a sharp twist. The experience
is deeply immersive, and very satisfying.
I'm going to wait until I actually play the game before I make any comments over whether or not these ideas are good, but they certainly have me more interested in the title than I was before. I'm happy that, while this is a port, they did work out ways to use each controller well. They also note how the Sixaxis can pick up very fine movements, and say game control with gestures may be possible in the future.
I'm looking forward to more novel uses of the Sixaxis controller, and hope developers don't get lazy in this respect. Bring on the fresh ideas! If you're interested in how the Wii version of The Godfather turned out, Frank is set to review it next week.
4 of the executions require sixaxis functionality, no way to disable it in settings either so the trophy for performing all execution styles isn't possible without a genuine Dualshock 3. I have searched for workarounds online but no luck, if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears tho.
Could be wrong, I think it's getting almost impossible to buy a genuine DualShock 3. I don't think they're being manufactured anymore, retailers don't carry them new, and buying them used from anywhere is no guarantee since knockoffs are just unabashedly branding themselves as Sony now and looking as convincing as possible. Almost can't even blame retailers or sellers at this point for saying they're genuine, no one really knows the reals from the fakes (not counting the obvious fakes, there are all kinds out there).
I just remember trying to get a real one was very difficult last time I tried and it was many years ago. Still not terribly convinced the ones I ended up buying are real. I have to think it's worse now.
This is much easier said than done. Buying authentic Dualshock 3 controllers is getting very difficult these days, and wading through the endless pages of fake sellers and knockoffs posing as genuine can make it quite an exhausting endeavour.
It's pretty easy imo, places like eBay just look for ones where they show you the inside. Lots of seller groups on social media. A few shops to buy from as well like CEX, they test controllers before buying them.
I just went through this process a few months ago and In my experience, sourcing them locally through social media, classified ads, or places like pawn shops and used game stores has definitely been the way to go.
The inside of what, the box? I've seen fakes that print Sony's branding and model information on the backs of the controllers so I'm not sure how you can tell for certain anymore. I think the way I did it was to find some non-eBay images of the backs of authentic controllers and look for discrepancies in photos in the "authentic" eBay ones... but it got too confusing between different models of authentic DualShock 3's and the fakes.
Inside of the controller obviously lol. Good sellers will show you the inside to show it's real. Spotting a fake is extremely easy imo, once you know what to look for it's just obvious. The main thing they always get wrong is the font whether it's wrong or misaligned. I suppose it depends where you live but for me it's very easy to get one, I have a CEX just a 5min walk away that has about 30 official ones in stock.
Ironic to see this post. Those controllers are definitely hard to find. When i was searching a year or two ago, It seemed like 90 percent of them online are fake. They even come in dangerously identical sony brand packaging and everything. Best bets buy a used one from gamestop and since its used its 7 day guarantee return if its not legit. Its ashame theres do much knock off crap everywhere.
Brook Wingman XE lets you use other controllers on PS3 with full functionality. Been using it for a while and I use a PS4 controller. Sixaxis/Rumble/Ps Button everything works. I know the struggle of trying to find a legit working PS3 controller and thankfully there are better, cheaper, easier options.
I mainly use a Dualshock 4 for my PS3 games, and only have one remaining Dualshock 3. The left D-Pad button doesn't work though, hence why I use the DS4. Platinum'd SAW II awhile back and dealt with this same issue, where the balance beams required the Sixaxis gyros or you'd fail every time. I only use my DS3 for that type of instance now, andhave long given up on trying to find an authentic additional one
The only issue I've ever found after over a year of use is that sometimes the game stops accepting any controller input. FIX is to just quickly re-pair the controller. Holding PS button to turn off controller and doing the share+ps buttons combo and making sure the Brook Wingman is in pairing mode (hold both buttons until it starts blinking). Besides that rare quickly fixable issue it's made my PS3 so much better and convenient to use.
